on reddit at https://www.reddit.com/r/boardsofcanada/comments/1ftbeyv/comment/lprescn/?context=3 earlier today to ask about a file I had found in my Apple Music library saved under "Boards of Canada - Untitled" and a user on reddit directed me here because this is apparently where the diehards are.

all the info I can get at the moment is iirc I downloaded it off soulseek, and as per the metadata, sometime in 2011. I tried to Shazam it or google any info but came up empty. Apple Music metadata has barely any info or even art apart from a comment saying "music70"

The rhythm part of the track sounds like its sampled from Mansel from AFOTv1, just slightly treated https://youtu.be/lVrUtTeyAR0 The synth lead sound like its's sampled from BoC too. The chick babbling over everything was probably added by the creator. My guess is this is one of many many SoundCloud remixes you can find of BoC. I have a folder with hundreds of them, and some are rather good. All in all, I like the vibe and hope you find out who made it.

However, I don't really want to believe that this track is a completely sampled remix of Mansel. The synth work and overall tone are not similar, although the drums are. Is it possible that it is an alternate version by Boards themselves or truly a remix?

the general concensus seems to be that this track is NOT boc, but I would still like to know what the origins of this track are. Is this a fan remake or a fake pretending to be boc 13 years ago?
