These sound like they came from DAT tapes. You can tell from the tape hiss/humming at the end of BMX Track into Hiscores, and the highs are present. You can even hear more of the ending to these tracks compared to the low-quality MP3s. So yeah, they're real.

no you're correct. no AI artifacts, straight up impossible to remaster to this quality and getting the drums right in a remake would be way too difficult for tracks like sequoia. people who choose to say this is not legit may do so but shouldn't spread this like it's a fact

I'm quite amazed that a lot of the percussion in BMX is almost supersonic, and was only audible because of the intermodulated distortion of the bad rip.
I wonder if that was an intended effect, and part of the mix is lost due to the rip being high quality.

Right, it now sounds like a squeaky bike wheel spinning

its real as far as I can tell. Really interesting to hear the fade-out in hiscores, as in the version we had it was a low-pass filtered fade-out (same way it fades in), but here all the highs stay intact and then goes crunch like you would hear on tape. Also each track was recorded individually as there's a lot of differences in noise amplitude.

I'm just an idiot that doesn"t know anything though, so whatever.

Its kind of weird to hear the songs so crystal clear now, its almost jarring (my mind has to catch up a bit).

Also, another thing worth mentioning is that the uploader said (via a comment on Reddit) that this was a specific compilation separate from otv1 and otv2 that was made by boc and privately distributed, basically meaning that this anonymous source has no more hq tracks to share.
