I wish the vocals were a little more chopped and distorted, but other than that I love this one

Really feels as though you've got fanatical religion on the surface and something chaotic and demonic floating below. It's like it's really directly saying this is what you're conjuring here when you go this route.
On tomorrow's harvest this would've been a skit but the track behind the vocals is really going some places. Again those melodies twisting up like vines

this track has defintely started growing in me and now it is on top three. Such brilliant and technically perfect. I think it may also be appreciated by the mainstream public.

I had to listen to this track before properly listening to the album because of what I had read about it. This was my first reaction
Altruizine wrote:This is too brilliant. Some late 90s Aphex Twin energy. Haha hold on guys I have the perfect thing to post here
I think some of the weird vocal ticks might be legitimately AI generated. This is what I posted in the speculation thread before Inferno was announced
Altruizine wrote:Knowing that Marcus studied AI in the 90s they're probably interested in the new tech that's making the rounds. I wonder if they could dabble in making AI-assisted audio experiments or if that's beyond them. Like in Telephasic Workshop the speech samples always reminded me of some kind of AI hallucinating. Some hypnagogic, incoherent stream-of-consciousness type of thing. I actually had that thought way before the recent AI revolution. Now they could make something like that for real.

BoC it's not a cult or a private club, this record, or at least some tracks (this, Naraka, You retire in time and space) definetely deserve mainstream recognition.

One of BoC's best ever songs IMO. Creative, catchy and tinged with their underlying humour.
Also, much like everything else on Inferno, very direct and on the nose given that the vocals are from a conversation between a real father and his son who he's asking to leave a religious cult.

That's not my point. This song is pretty much the weirdest thing you could play anyone. But hey, don't take my word for it, attend a normie party and fire this track up at midnight and watch what happens
On a second thought it might be pretty chill actually. Just listened to it on speakers. It might be enjoyed.

In fairness, the track does have a pretty nasty hip-hop groove to it. While the 'normies' may find it too strange, I wouldn't be surprised if some hip-hop heads out there get something out of this one.

yeah the vocals might be perceived as weird but the melody and the beats are absolutely top tier hip-hop.

On a side note I think the father in the source seems like a sincere and nice person. Many fathers wouldn't miss their son that much. Naturally we can't know what happened but I believe him when he says he raised his children with love and care. It's a tragic situation
For those unaware here's the sample
Although I'm a little confused too. The son lived with his parents until age 24 until he joined a cult and now after some time the father wants him to come back to live with them? Maybe he's too controlling and clingy if he thinks he shouldn't seek independence. I kind of interpreted "living at home" just living near them and being in touch instead of being isolated in a cult

"I think that's wonderful" is going to enter the pantheon of classic BoC lore like "Orange! Yeah that's right", "I. Love. You", "Lake!" and "Although not a follower of hseroK divaD"

Despite it not having super satisfying synths (imo) like “Naraka” for example, the sample manipulations give me the same feels as when I first heard them 25 years ago . Like, “wtf is this?” ❤️
