Those chimey jangly intro sounds always reminded me of a Christmas song from hell. On top of that, that heinously unsettling, loud sound that fades in throughout the track adds an immense amount of tension to the song.

Great song! Love the general minimalism of it and those circular melodys, nice n' fresh.

I agree without a doubt, one of my first favorite BoC tracks... and it never ceases to amaze me

i'm just imagining it live now...

i would probably lie on the ground and let the sounds float freely around me...i would advise everyone to do this of course.

the instrument that comes in at 1.49 reminds me (don’t ask why) of 1940-1950 britain.
a man playing his wind instrument in a dark cave.
of course, he's suffering from a psychological breakdown

I agree it must be played loud!

Hafta admit though, upon first hearing it years ago, it sounded to me like a rip-off of Moby's "Porcelain". C'mon, tell me you don't hear similarities between those two!

i have vague memories of the show. it would come on at odd times on CBC when i was little but i 'member enjoying it. well, i thought it fit since it's pastoral and takes place in canada.

I wholeheartedly agree. Dawn Chorus is my favorite and most played BoC song on my mp3 player.

To be honest, I think OTV1B5 does a better job.

Reminds me of My Bloody Valentine more than any of BoC's other tunes. It wouldn't sound out of place of Loveless.
