I wonder which BoC clones you all know?
so I(we) can enjoy the BoC influences even more :D

I do know:
Kelpe (the best imo)
Freescha (second best)
Ten and Tracer
Project Nrthwood (I haven´t heard it yet)

same sort of style:
Helios
Landau

there are many more.....

ye, the Kelpe has to be the most convincing clone i've heard recently, thanks to Aesthetics for that one :D gonna have to give the others a day in court. In a different vein, been listening to the Quiet City by Pan American & it's rather sumptuous i must say.

Well, if you say Casino Versus Japan is similar to Boards of Canada, then you ought to mention m83 too.

I have never heard of any of the BOC clones before....How long has Kelpe been around? Any recommended stuff by them?...

Kelpe has been around for about 2 years as far as I know, he(Kel McKeown) only released one EP called "The People Are Trying To Sleep" [2003] and one full release called "Sea Inside Body" [2004]

Behind the multicoloured psychedlia of the album sleeve and title, Kelpe’s debut full-length delivers well produced and considered variants on the more emotive and overtly warm end of the electronic spectrum. Heavily indebted to BOC and their documentary school of sound design, “Sea Inside Body” is full of beautifully crisp glitched-up beats, edits, midtempo flows, headnod burners and beatless soundtracks to public library narratives. There’s nothing particularly new or exciting here, but Kel’s production skills should see him through into a body of work that, if a tad more original, will no doubt be an absolute pleasure to listen to. So, not groundbreaking, but a very enjoyable listen indeed.

Now that I think about it, mum sounds a bit like BOC...they are from Iceland...they had their first album "Yesterday was dramatic, today is ok" released 4 yrs ago....I have their second album "Finally we are no one" and it sounds like a bubbly children's version of BOC...it relies less on samples than BOC but it still has that "nostalgic" quality to it...it's kinda like a children's book really...They also released an album earlier this year "Summer make Good" but I have not heard anything from that....

I have heard of m83 but I don't think of them as a BOC clone at all...

Other than that, I can't think of any clones I have previously heard of....

can you believe that they even compared Múm with Autechre?

lol, well I guess it's because Autechre falls into the IDM category and Mum probably falls into a sub-genre of the IDM category....

The only work from Autechre that I own is "Confield" and I must say it has quite a "cold-ish" feels to it, it seems to lack any sort of real soul or feeling....not that Autechre is bad...I loved "Confield" but I wouldn't compare it to anything from Mum...it's like too different styles in the IDM genre as far as I am concerned....

well, the melodies are as complex as Autechre sometimes, I think that was the main reason to compare them with each other

also try out Autechre´s early stuff, like Incunabula, Amber or LP5

Oh man there is even one much more identical to BoC and that's Tycho with his album: "Sunrise Projector"

Sunrise Projector ~ Sunshine Recorder

Check the previews of that album right here http://tychomusic.com/ and see for yourself...

And always remember, there is only one BoC 8)

well,i don't see how frescha or ten and tracer are related to boards of canada at all...it's the same how you think of casino versus japan.

it also falls into this psychedelic melanchony boc do,imo.

i love Kelpe! Thanks to Aesthetics for making me listen to this and other great artists. Though i don't know if i could call them BoC clones, they sound quite different imo...
Like when people said Bola was the new Boards, i thought they had great personality and didn't sound a bit like them.
I also like Casino and Mùm, and wouldn't compare them to Autechre whatsoever! Those bands just have the same 'audience' or something...I don't think they sound alike at all.

Tycho is good on its own. No more, no less. But it stille remains a BoC ripoff.
