Great find Guido!

Finally some new/interesting 'news'. If something of this ends up on a new record this topic will be epic indeed. ;)

I'll bet the brothers read what is written within Twoism.
And I am REALLY curious what they would think about such findings about their work...

Perhaps, one day we get a post by one of them :)

And by the way. When I saw this Kia-Ora ad, it felt some kind of familiar to me although I couldn't have seen it over here in germany before, I think.

It was referenced in the show Spaced.

I really need to watch that show more. I only saw the pilot. Pretty funny stuff.

It's an awesome show.
The soundtrack is amazing too.

I guess the name of the track was just a reference to it. I didn't even know it was the name of a drink, here in New Zealand we use it as a greeting. The other tracks could be ones they've only performed live, you can get royalties for performing your own song.
Anyway, good find!

I loved that ad as a kid for some reason (i wasn't allowed to drink it.. made me a bit hyper as i remember  ..)

Great find.. Maybe those mystery titles could simply be album/EP tracks that didn't make the final edit but were registered for copywrite before the final listing?

edit: actually that wouldn't make sense as they appear to be registered after/between releases going by the numerical order.. perhaps outtakes registered after for potential future release?

None of all "new" songs appear to have been scrobbled/submitted to last.fm, if that means anything..

i cant quite think why it rings a bell with me...i'm most likely just confusing it with something else!

me too. i can't quite place where i saw mention...i might even have a copy at work somewhere...dang, i know i have seen it...

was the "i think i've seen it at work somewhere" a quote in reference to that guy who said he had all sorts of rare boc shit at the record shop he worked at, then said he was a real estate agent and went all fucking mental when people called him up on it?

Thu Dec 04, 2008 1:16 am

nope, i guess i was transposing something else...blackberry phone ads or something...not a mention of it here...darn, just some hooper bay stuff...

I ran the unknown tracks through the PPL repertoire database (searching boards of canada produced too many results to display) and came up with something interesting.

Blueberry

It's Too Orangey

So could these be the names of the vignettes at the end of twoism and basefree?
I know they don't show up when Sixtyten and Triangles and Rhombuses are searched but did they need to bother registering them twice?

The other unknowns didn't show. Also, Olson v3 and Aquarius v3 show up here.

Finally, BoC must be fucking loaded judging by this!

Potentially awesome news:

New Track?!

Subject to Verification?! And the song number is more recent than anything else in their library.

Also can anyone shed light on this?

This was all lifted from a Canadian Musiic Rights Agency btw.

I've found out about the Sunshine thing, although I don't understand completely.

1. Dante Smith (Mos Def) and Kayne West collaborated on a song called Sunshine.

2. The song samples a song from the musical Hair (Let The Sunshine In); and interestingly it was on a single as a medley with a song called Aquarius. I've got a feeling the inspiration behind Aquarius may have sprang from there; the wiki article also talks about the song being based on the astrological belief in the age of Aquarius.

The interesting wiki article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquarius/Let_the_Sunshine_In

3. So logically, since it said it was a sample, the song (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=IMOy9SsUQ7U) should contain a BoC sample. But I can't hear one I recognise. Any takes on it? The funny strings sound BoCish, but I can't pick it.

EDIT: ""Please Tell Me Why" "Boards of Canada"" on Google returns THIS very strange result.

To summarise:
Teen Scene Vol. 02

Artist: Various Artists
Released: 2004
Record Label: Norton
Recorded At:

A VERY strange thing for Boards to be on.

And apparently you can listen to previews OF THE SONG! but you need iTunes! :( I'll have to download that right now.

EDIT #2: I got iTunes, and listened. It's not Boards of Canada; it's some band called Boards. I think that copyright may have been a labeling error. If you want to listen to it, make sure you're searching iTunes Plus; it doesn't come up otherwise.

EDIT #3: Definitely an error. The record I linked to is actually Fort Worth Teen Scene Vol. 3, not Vol 2; and it's a band called Boards. It's a 60s garage/psych rock compilation.

I've eliminated all the off-topic nonsense and slow chat. Let's just stick to this amazing topic please. This one contains a lot of valuable information; don't spoil it!
