First time opening this topic. I have never introduced myself so I will do so now.

I've been a Boc fan since 2013, just before the release of TH. I've always been lucky in that way, I always start listening to bands just before they release something after a long hiatus, unkowingly.

I was 16 back then and listening to a lot of Deadmau5, he was pretty much my introduction to electronic music. So one day I decided to google for the best electronic music albums in history. After a long search without any interesting discoveries, I opened a site that had MHTRTC as its first entry and Geogaddi as second, and watching the cover art for Geogaddi was pretty much an experience on its own. I first listened to Geogaddi and fell in love the moment Ready Lets Go started, and loved every other song after that. You know how the rest of the story goes..

To this day I have only met one person who enjoys boc as much as I do, so their music has always been like my little treasure.

Cheers!

Been a lurker here for years. Used to even post sparingly under the name Gevel, but I think the email associated with that account died or something, never was able to recover it. So new account :)

Been a fan since getting first into Aphex Twin through David Firth's videos, then heard BOC's music in Salad Fingers. I'm pretty certain this was one of the most common ways people got introduced to both artists back in the ~mid 2000's, especially since I've seen it riffed on to an extent before

BOC are hands down probably my favorite group ever, though sometimes I feel that way about The Beatles who were my prior. It's definitely one of those things you can't put into words well, much like an acid trip :) Just glad I discovered them and am glad they've had this fanbase going all these years despite their radio silence.

I could go on and on about my history with them and certain experiences, but I'll just suffice it to say I really want to visit Scotland someday and enjoy their music in the nature that seemingly inspired them. It's a literal life goal for me to get to that some day.

The thing I want most is to see all of their old works released, though. I loved the Old Tunes tapes and can only imagine what else they have. Knowing there's tons of unreleased Geogaddi, potentially more tracks that take you to euphoria like 5.9.78... I just hate to think of a lifetime deprived of hearing more of their works that got locked away. I'm all for the new stuff too, but since their sound signature harks back to a past that's forgotten in some sense, it's hard not to long for their older stuff.

Feel like I've ranted enough already. Anyway, glad to be here!

Hi -

I've been following BOC since the early 1990s. I saw them live at the Warp Lighthouse party in London, October 2000. I also saw Plaid, Aphex, and Autechre that night! Bjork was hanging around in the audience.

My other interests include travel, photography and cricket.

Happy to chat about anything!

Welcome, Drodbar.

You mention that you've been following them since the early 90's. How did you hear their music initially?

What was it like to know of the band that early and see their music become more recognized and appreciated?

What memories do you have of the Lighthouse party? Was it something you were invited to or just determined to attend?

What other experiences can you share about the band?

I got tickets to the Lighthouse party online, the day it was announced. Once we had got in past the disappointingly heavy handed security, we found that no one seemed to know who was playing in which room. We settled in one of the rooms, and saw Plaid, Autechre and BOC in fairly quick succession. BOC had a few retro analogue TVs scattered around, showing mainly static images. I'm not sure if 'In a beautiful place..' had been released yet, so most of the material they played was unfamiliar apart from 'Everything you do is a balloon'. '1969' stuck in my head though. We later went to the other room, where Chris Cunningham and Aphex both did DJ sets.

Hey everyone!

I've been a fan of BoC for years now - in terms of just electronic music, I also love Aphex, OPN and Daft Punk, but I think Boards might just edge out them all. They're a big inspiration on my own music, that kind of 'timeless futuristic' feel. As great as MHTRTC is, I think Geogaddi is slightly better as a whole - anyone else agree? Just an impeccable atmosphere throughout...

Strong agree with Akogingu earlier in this thread, very, very curious about the brothers' unreleased work. Let's hope the vaults are opened up, one day. And I am dead jealous of people saying they've seen them live, you're not allowed to say that... :?

Also, I've just released a BoC mix on YT, partially inspired by the Sleep Mixes by Naked Flames - I was told I should post about it here, so yeah, hope you like it! https://youtu.be/0D5ArpBlCe4

Gonna have a look through all the various threads - I've always heard of this site but never really explored it, am surprised it's as active as it is.

Hello :D

I've been a Boards of Canada fan for about 2 years or so. Completely fell in love with their sound when I first heard it. So I've decided to join twoisim because I would like to talk about music. I would tell you where I first heard boards of Canada but the funny thing is, I don't remember. I live in a small town in Iowa (united states) and I might be the only one in my entire town who listens to BOC.

I'm going to be straightforward and say that as of the time of this message, I am 14 years old. Please dont think of me any differently because of my age, thanks!

Hello everyone!
I am by no means a long time fan of Boards of Canada, but I will happily remain one until further notice
I first discovered their music through a bit of a weird source (This Vinesauce video: https://youtu.be/PctMdYQbUzo?t=140)
At first I was taken aback by how unique and strange it was (which is my own fault. I probably shouldn't have started with Geogaddi, lol)
Now I'm in love with their style. Their blend of aged synths with clean drum loops, interwoven with various samples from their childhood, making it seem nostalgic and foreign all at the same time.
I probably won't contribute much to this forum, but I'll gladly browse through to expand my BoC knowledge

Kind regards

Hello everyone! I'm a musician from a wee village in the west of Scotland (near Paisley). Been a bit of a lurker on this site for years, and a huge fan of BoC probably since around 2007.

Hey all.

I've been a fan of BoC since MHTRTC on release in 1998. I've been checking this place for many years. I attended the Incredible Warp Lighthouse Party back in 2000. I tried to smuggle in my minidisc recorder but got caught out on the way in - managed to retrieve it back after a long night, though.

Also - believe it or not, my ex-wife took that photo that still adorns the wikipedia page.

Lurking for years. Listening since the early 2000's. Electronic musician, farmer, mechanic, electronics hobbyist... and more.
Feels like activity is starting to ramp up for a new release...maybe...
