Fingers are crossed that October will see the release of new Boards of Canada material. Until then (and if not) I've been listening to some covers to please my ears. This one is pretty good. Anyone else find some good covers?

That is a nice one, and a good set of pictures to go with it. Although the switch-up right at the end (around 1:30) kinda kills the mood.

I don't know why it would kill the mood; that's the transition in the original piece too. Also, i'm glad that it has its own unique qualities. The original is there for all to enjoy and having an exact copy would be pointless. And there aren't many covers on youtube worth mentioning so lets give the guy some credit for creating a equally good visual component to the audio.

I would say the other cover he did was just okay(link below). But really who can copy the multilayered, multi-timbered, and sound construction/destruction of Boards of Canada? Hey, there's still a raging debate on what equipment they use and how they use it.

^^ Well, that 'New album in October?' thread was actually started last October. I think it was bumped this year again as a joke.

I did a kind of dodgy sounding cover of Olsen a while ago:

Treefingers what did you use to make that track? It sounds too upbeat, not melancholic enough, but that might have been your objective! :)

Yeah, Parenthesis I'm feeling the same way. It's been awhile; more then enough time to put something out. Either way, just let the fans know.

I also happened to do a cover of Olson, it's a lot slower and done mostly with guitars:

lawrenke what did you use to record that cover? Definitely unique and very good in it's own way. Much deeper and darker. :)

Thankyou! I used a telecaster that went through DI into my laptop, and used a hell of a lot of tape compression plugins, some reverb and EQing, and just Logic's ES1 synth and a piano sampler patch.

I was going to say that it sounded like you used alot of effects to get the warble. It's also very bassy! Not a big fan of that Logic synth or the piano patch. Could hardly tell it was a telecaster. :) What else have you covered from BoC?

I haven't recorded any other covers but I figured out a few things on guitar... Amo Bishop Roden, Turquoise Hexagon Sun and Music is Math to name a few. Are these youtube videos your covers? I really like the HFTL one, 'tis lovely!
