yup sorry, I should have been a bit more clear about that. I am not going back to look for posts but when it happened I saw people speculating about that being the case. Don't shoot the messenger, I am not saying that is what the video meant.

Oh okay, that makes a lot more sense. Yeah, I could believe that. I know it was two years ago, but VHS Head announced he was done with his 3rd studio album in 2020 and it was just released this year, so sometimes finished albums get delayed.

MDG said the album was "On its way" which I'd assume means Warp has it and is in the process of releasing it (however long it takes.)

I think I actually speculated back in 2021 that I Feel Good was them celebrating that they finished the project.

We really have no idea what I Feel Good means but it does feel like a cheeky way to celebrate them finishing a highly sought after project. But your mileage may vary. Could mean nothing.
My opinion of course but MDG has been kind of irrelevant for 10 years. Album on its way in no way translates to imminent.

Still waiting. Maybe a more better thing would be waiting for a new album;)

2024 is the year.

Personally, I felt 2014 was the cut off for a TH follow up EP. People were talking about that as late as 2016 but it really never made sense to me. I didn't feel any meaningful release was reasonable after that until shortly after covid hit and that pushed everything back. I felt 2022 was unlikely but not impossible, same with 2023. Next year we are either getting an album or a compilation.

Unless something goes horribly wrong, I don't believe Boards is the kind of band that does nothing for ten years and then announces their retirement a la Daft Punk. That's not their nature at all. They would release something and then tell us after the fact they were done for the foreseeable future. A bit like Radiohead. They're working and not talking about it. We're going to hear something very close to that something being ready to present and that will be soon.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

Unsure how old the brothers are these days but I would imagine that if they both have families of their own with young kids growing up, it would potentially take up a lot of their free time for the past 5-10 years. (Speaking as a father of a 10 and 7 year old, I empathize completely.)

I think production finished on LP5 in June 2022, and the release date was determined in July 2023.

That would explain mdg saying an album is on its way, and why BoC have been linking to their socials lately. mdg only said an album was on its way after it was 100% certain it was finished and BoC is only telling us where to expect announcements after it was 100% certain those announcements would happen.

Just trying to think of what most logically explains their recent activity.

Hopefully that also means it's not long now...

In a fit of rage, Murk frisbee'd the only printed copy of the new album into the street like a stale pancake.

You can all go home now, we need to clean up before the Lifehouse concert at 9.

Agreed. it’s wishful thinking to think “album on its way” is the same as “album finished”

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Aphex came back and released a new EP after five years. The next step up is a BOC album...then a full length Aphex album.

That's the order I predict things will roll out.

Also MDG was never irrelevant since he rightfully predicted Tomorrow's Harvest. I have a good feeling he predicted another new album too.

My personal pet theory is announcement at the end of the year to keep us excited over the holidays for a release next year. Squarepusher did this with his comeback from Dec 2019 into Jan 2020 and the album was fantastic. Let us just have faith they are getting all their ducks in a row!
Warning: This numerology post is not to be taken 2 seriously.

I think this take makes the most sense. Why post the "I Feel Good" if there was no significance? Why bother posting that at all? And yes, I don't think MGD would have let the cat out of the bag if the album wasn't done.

Unless something crazy happened to them that we'll never learn of. Anyone ever see The Pledge with Jack Nicholson? I think of that ending often when the album continues to not show up.
