I just thought this would be interesting to see. Mine would have to be Zoetrope, nothing really grabs me from that track and I get bored with it quickly, maybe if it was shorter it would be a little better.

Although it has no obvious changes throughout the track,I am still impressed by the rich melodies...

I really don't like 'Rue the Whirl' and some of their 'Old Tunes'.

I don't hate the track by any means and I still listen to it from time to time, but I guess I just have to be in the right mood for it. It's still better than most of the crap out there.

i dont like 'forest moon' because i use reason, and the drums in this track remind me of one of the default loops in the soundbank. it just annoys the shit outa me

BoC's remix of midnight star's "midas touch"

yeah i immidiatly thought about zoetrope. but when i concentrate it has a very nice atmosphere.

the melodies are indeed rich. goes on for too long or it is like a silent goodbye message in it's ep context.. it works the best when i fell half a sleep during 3/5 of the track and then slowly dissapear further away.
the old tunes records have much worser stuff. sometimes just a synth for 1:29 without the richness.
i like rue the whirl btw. one pretty effective trans loop with a lovely melodic answer.

I would have to say that "basefree" and "smokes quantity" are my least favorites, which kinda sucks because I absolutely love Twoism otherwise. I also agree that there are a few annoying ones on AFOT, but they are easier to forgive seeing that they led to bigger and better things.

try imagining mammoths and other ancient giant mammals trudging across the tundra. there is a cold dry wind and ice. the windstorm howls, punishing life on the face of the earth.

It's funny that you bring up such imagery. I am reminded of an episode a couple of nights ago when I was flipping channels and landed on a nature show on eagles. I immediately threw on "an eagle in your mind" and had a nice little experience for myself. The same did not work with "happy cycling" and the Tour de France, though. Back to my point, I often picture cold landscapes and nature (Canada, in other words) when I listen to older BoC stuff like Twoism and MHTRTC.

happy cycling, for me because of how the track goes, is like someone trudging up a hill, the persistant longer first part of the track, and then, coming down finally at the end when the synths come out, like WHEEEE freedom. if you look at the length of the first part, its about as long as it takes to go up, as compared to the shorter second part going down the hill. i bet you could figure out the dimensions of the hill from applying the lengths of the parts, and the speed too.

You know, I never thought of it like that, but without even having to listen to it, I know exactly what you mean about that track. I think I smell a new topic about audio-visual connections. I'm sure most of the people here have a number of unique interpretations of BoC's music.

I've never liked Bocuma very much. To me it always sounded fairly obvious. Almost like a parody of a BoC track. Or something.

Wow, really? Basefree is one of my favorite tracks off Twoism. It sounds very influenced by Autechre's early work, which is never a bad thing in my opinion. The heavy beat, eerie synths, and groaning vocal samples feel as if they're ripping me apart piece by piece, but in a good way.(if that makes any sense)

I always think it's very interesting to hear other peoples visualizatins that Boc can bring to one's imagination. While we're on this topic the track Over The Horizon Radar always puts a vision in my head. It's me standing in a graveyard, with a cold wind lightly blowing (which you can atually hear in this track) watching a loved one in a casket being lowered into the earth. It still gives me chills to hear it.

Upon further listening, I think that I'll give "basefree" a second chance. I agree that there is certainly an Autechre feel to it. Perhaps my problem with it is its placement on the album, between two of my all time favorites, "oirectine" and "twoism." I don't know how many times I've had a song that I didn't initially care for turn out to become one of my favorites.

It does seem kind of out of place, it's more of a techno track and the rest of the album seems more hip-hop inspired. I listened to Twoism again today just for shits & giggles, I have'nt heard it in a while.

yeahs for me boc also works really well together with visuals but a lot of the time i can not describe them. they seem blends of all kind of memories..dreams.. whatever. abstract paintings are hard too explain.
sometimes they are beautiful and sometimes just bloody irritating. the most depressing thing for me is when a track disconnects from a great atmosphere and only shows a kind of mediocre copy that i spended too much time on to create in my brain myself. visuals just need to happen by accident and be extremely beautiful.. but they have there own power and dissapear whenever they like and soemtimes come back later for a little while. strange stufsk.
