Song relativity due to themes/feelings/tones/timing...

I've recently noticed that a few of BoC's songs actually sound quite similar.

One in particular.

Dayvan Cowboy shows a connection to Whitewater through the timing of when the drums are picked up, the feeling of the song, the octives of the notes being played...it's like Whitewater was the early Dayvan Cowboy. Seriously, listen to these two tracks simotaniously, you'll realize it.

I also share an equal love for these two tracks. A different love than their other tracks. Nothing more or less, just different. Same with other songs such as Roygbiv, or Seeya Later, or Everything You Do Is A Balloon.

Echus and 5.9.78 share a strong connection in my mind. Both beautiful, calming, soothing a wound from your demented childhood past. That's what I feel for these tracks. Not to mention their reletivity in chord tone.

Ine A Beautiful Place Out In The Country and Sherbert head show oddly fimiliar traits...I really dont know how to explain, you just gotta listen!

Most of their songs are completely unique and wonderous in their own way, like an ending to an epic adventure...that feeling of amazment and triumph(such as Julie and Candy, A:B::B:C(reversed), You Could Feel The Sky(reversed and forward), From One Source Everything Depends, 1986 Summer Fire, Poppy Seed Reprise, THE LIST GOES ON...)

But there are some tracks that give me the same feeling! (Whitewater + Dayvan Cowboy, In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country + Sherbert Head, Echus + 5.9.78 ) And I love it! Like a different way to look onto something!

Has anyone noticed any connections in BoC's music for themselves?

Sixtyten and the second half of Happy Cycling. Both put similar emphasis on the 1st and 4th beat in every measure.

Maybe some of their songs sound similar in structure. Besides from their pretensions of originality, it is evident that not all tunes can be as fresh or innovative, specially in the genre where they move. Me, I just can't notice. Each song of these two guys inducts me to an unique mental atmosphere, hypnotizes in such a way that you can taste its timelessness. Perhaps one of BoC's biggest successes, they somehow managed to explore a great part of the human emotional patron with their music.

I've said it elsewhere but I'll say it again. I don't think the old albums aren't available because Boards doesn't want us to hear them or because they are embarrassed by them but because if we did hear them we would realize just how much the old songs sound like the new songs.

Hmm never thought of that, but that seems pretty possible. As a musician, I too often borrow ideas from my older unreleased songs, such as melodies, chord progressions or something even larger, to my newer stuff.

Yeah its quite strange actually, you would expect it to sound quite bad on guitar but it transfers onto the fretboard really well. It also helps when you play it as well as you do!
