THE CARETAKER

I dare say that next to this guy BoC have nothing on creepy nostalgia. Old crackly 78 samples washed in fuzz and static into ambient washes. Damn, it's frightening.

Most of his stuff is free to download; I "acquired" Persistent Repetition of Phrases, pretty much the only one that isn't, off a WIRE recommendation. The first thought I had after listening through was "Twoism would probably like this." :?

Oooooooooo this is some lovely warped stuff!

Such a simple concept, but wow does he pull it off. Would have been so easy to overplay it, but the menace is kept just nicely bubbling under the surface.

Top recommendation. VERY nice :D

EDIT: got his live freebie playing now and Wow! You might like to check out Elegi if you dig this kind of creepy stuff.

For those who didn't know, BoC has released material on that same label (V/Vm Test Records).

The Caretaker played in my hometown Aalst last wednesday. I couldn't go, though.
