Do you ever use your MD for impulse triggers with that modular??

interesting that you ask. yes all the time, using it for master clock. the MD goes to a 4MS Quad Clock Distributor. that goes out to mods and to a 4MS Shuffling Clock Multiplier.
i have also sent trigs from the mod back to the MD

I used to post on this thread years ago, my production has come a long way since. This is upbeat, lots of layers and texture, delicate Omni sounds, and a bit of guitar - https://soundcloud.com/bgilstein/appearances-draft

Dig it. Is the main guitar rift off a little bit though? Late in the mix? Only listening on laptop speakers at the moment.

Possibly on the fence as to make it a full track or just a nice little vignette reprise of a reprise.
I have a version floating around with drums, don't think that will stick though.

Well post if you do anything with it! this one has always been one of my favorite pieces by them. I used it in an animation demo reel a few years ago, it's got such a whimsy to it

If any has time check out my soundcloud and let me know what you think. I've been doing alot of guitar based stuff for over 2 years now and your opinion really matters. I have about 3 full length cd's worth of music and i want to put some of it out. I do music alot like BoC, but i try to keep the guitar as my main instrument.

This one is spot on old tunes but, it's not completely finished. I think i need to fill it in in spots and give the end more of a pop.

I use native instruments komplete, an ibanez rg 6string, line 6 pod hd500x and a field recorder for samples and such.
For the kick drum on "parallel park" i sampled myself beating a vinyl couch cushion just to express my creativity.

A test recording on my Tascam Porta One of an old song I did of the same name. I will be redoing this later with better results.
The recording was cut off at the end as it was the last thing I recorded on the cassette and ran out of tape.

I hope you enjoy what I have so far:

I think this might be my favorite thing you've posted. I've also been listening to a lot of weird rick wakeman stuff though. I can't compliment your tape-process enough, it's so wonderfully fuzzed-out. I like the slow build of the drums as well, it seems like a new hit gets added to the rotation every time it loops around. I think it's fine at the length it's at honestly, unless you were going to add anything new! I don't even mind the abrupt cut-off. That's just me though.

Man these sounds! I really appreciate the variety of percussion. I've always been a fan of really organic drum sounds since a lot of times it's easier to rely on less detailed samples and recordings. Props!
I do get the feeling that this almost bordered on having a more direct house-y beat to it. For me personally, I have a hard time getting lost in it as much if there are a lot of change ups in the time signature. I missed the snare-ish sound after it's short debut in the center of the track, it added a bit of balance to the rhythm for me. I know we aren't here to do things normally though :]
The only other thing that caught me was the fade out in the center. I thought the piece was over haha. It works; just caught me off guard. Great sounds though overall. My favorite parts were the middle, as I said, and the end bit actually. I really started to feel it with the different arpeggios kind of stripped away. I could listen to a whole track of just that

Thanks a lot man! Yea definitely sounds of house can be heard somewhat. I wanted to add these little parts like the middle with the claps, and the end where i strip shit down, where are like WOW. Just throw them in there, little fun parts for the listener to enjoy. And have kind of jarring stops, cut offs, etc.

Hadn't made a track for a little while as I just got married, so it was fun to get back on the horse.

Thanks, Perch! I was gonna EQ the process a bit better while recording onto the tape as ere are a couple parts that need the fix. I'm also planning on doing fun experiments to the cassettes magnetic tape to see how it changes the sound. I might leave the song cut early but have the sounds pitch warp down and out at the end, kind of like the cassette tape players batteries died.

Gonna get at it tomorrow, along with some other tunes.

Cool man! the only thing I've ever experimented with on tape is pulling it out of the cassette, crumbling it a bit, then re-rolling it up. Adds some weird crazy textures, and at some points the sound completely drops out. I wouldn't do it unless you want something pretty damaged. Post what you come up with though! I have made tons of searches on tape experiments to no avail. All I get are sites with goofy pinterest crap to make out of old cassettes.

Just a heads up on a new release on my label, Eyesix Records.

Gogogaxica is Atalanta Fugiens' debut album and I'm delighted that he chose to contact me (Any Colour You Like) with his demo two weeks ago via FB. The sound was very familiar, and right up my alley. I even had the pleasure to work on some of the tracks with him and master the album. The album, to me, is almost a hybrid of Boards of Canada's Music Has the Right to Children and Geogaddi, as there album takes the listener on a journey through some darker and similar beat-driven terrain.

It's available here and I'm also offering 65% off the entire discography right now, 16 releases for 30euro.

Thanks guys, https://eyesixrecords.bandcamp.com/album/gogogaxica

Sounds great, DaveJ!

I'm working on a remix for You Could Feel The Sky.
I've been wanting to do a proper remix for many years now and I'm finally getting close to completing it. Just a couple more things to do with it. I'm gonna add my own voice emulating the singing guy near the end of the original song, a few touch ups here and there with the effects, and then run this song through my Tascam Porta One.
It's gonna need proper mastering too. I'm trying to improve with mastering and all that junk. Hopefully my efforts will be successful.

Have a listen to what I have so far:
