EDIT: hmm! I feel kind of slow. But OK. Warp did replace their logo on the website with this. But doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose if it says "autechre" written over it?

from what i can see Autechre is obscured by the blackspot, you get half of the A, the u and part of the t ... the rest of the sleeve is hidden and obscured track titles which are pretty abstract anyway

the blackspot is the prominent feature throughout, also the front of the vinyl set is just the blackspot and no text

I can't understand why anyone would pre-order this without hearing any previews, still 3 months away from the release.
After Quaristice I'm not too sure that this will be worth buying. Only listened to Quaristice for a couple of times , and really only liking the first track and some moments here and there. (IMO)

But then again , if it were a BoC release i'd blindly pre-order it without giving it any thought.

And IMO I think the artwork sucks. (these kind of things feel too pretentious to me)

lol?

It's gotta be hard to do their music justice, so they usually end up doing something really minimal, to leave a lot to the the imagination. The closest they came was Draft 7.30, I think. I also really liked Quaristice's cover.

I dunno, I'm not exactly shitting ice cream over the black dot. But I bet I will about the music.

if that's "just" a black dot AE tracks are "just" noise.

anyway, for anyone who completed an order, how much cash did this turn out to be for USA, with the shipping? thanks.

It's an immediate and powerful image. every black circle that has been posted in this thread is an entirely different black circle. here it is presented as something to get lost in. it's the first time we've seen any form of organic expression in any of their artwork as well. unless you count the photo for amber.

and with shipping the vinyl ended up coming to about 60 dollars

thanks for the info.

you can tell the graphic designers here seeing nothing but circles. but there is no such thing as 'organic expression',.

heh touche.

but, by organic i meant he appearance of the human touch. as opposed to the cold, clean graphic design we are used to with their artwork.

"ae3 & h3ae" and "aeo3 & 3hae" hasn't any easy album style like Oversteps or Hangable Auto Bulb by Aphex, but tracks was just a noise like hard ambient )

I hope it'll not be )

w00t @ http://clonesound.blogspot.com/2010/01/ ... steps.html

There are tracks here with the kind of ambient techno melodies that have scarce been present on an Autechre album since 1995's Tri Repetae. Where part of the thrill of Quaristice was the unmistakable sound of the duo wrestling with where to fit all the pieces, Oversteps beams with confidence; everything is fleshed out here.

SOUNDS PROMISING!

Well, he's a writer for the milk factory, http://www.themilkfactory.co.uk/st/auth ... abravanel/

I don't think he'd ruin his reputation by posting a fake article.. so I think it's legit.

Tue Jan 19, 2010 11:24 am

does he know that he was the first (only?) to spill beans and tease his own writing re: the exclusive promotional copy? i see that he is a recent graduate.

It's leaked.

And it's about as hip hop as Autechre has ever got, the beats are fucking head nodding.

Or maybe it's a fake, I dunno, we'll have to wait, but if I got the real one, this is Autechre's best in a long time.

Edit: I've found that it's probably a fake

If anyone knows what it is I got, then tell me because I really enjoy it. :\

Sat Jan 23, 2010 2:24 am

from what I understand its a fake made by these guys

from the people who made it apparently:

Anyone in the Ae fanbase who knows and loves the work of Autechre will know straight away from hearing any of the "fake" tracks that this is a tongue-in-cheek prank aimed at the fanboys and in no way is aimed at taking anticipation off of the release of Oversteps. The ones who have the patience to wait for its' imminent release will be the most rewarded. This was an exercise in seeing how quickly false information spreads. Sure, Fluorescent Grey proved this last time, seems no-one learned this time either. We have a lot of respect for Rob and Sean, and in no way is this intentionally to piss them off. Maybe they agree with us. AE - 1 IDIOTS - 0 Here's who made it.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ompcBQvK65I x

From the guys behind the "fake" LP... The only purpose of this "leak" is nothing to do with trying to pass an album off as Autechre, it is targeting those who will only listen to something for plain aesthetic value rather than for its content, and taking the complete piss out of those people. The ones who for example would buy a 12" with the sound of Aphex Twin's bowel movements, just because its RDJ and not for its artistic merit.

could very well be seeing Ae at Leeds in March!
