Layers and layers of sounds that have been EQ'd to my liking, sped way down and then manually tempo and pitchshifted back to where they were (or occasionally higher), then usually reversed. Gives a real nice, unsettling sound to those who aren't used to hearing that sort of thing.

Oh ok, I seem to remember using some sort of bad reverb algorithm from somewhere that actually made it sound cool in an unintended way, and it reminded me a bit of that part of your song. Awesome album by the way, your production skills are pretty damned good, you should teach me haha

Thanks man.

Truth is, it's all in not brickwalling an album and widening the stereo a bit. Most people make things way too loud and way too compressed now days and without proper dynamics, playback on hardware that's at least half-decent is going to sound horrible.

At least, that's my view on it.
