Just gave it a listen today. First impression was good- not as much my cup of tea as Since I Left You, but at a glance probably equal to Wildlfower. It'll take more than one spin to sink in for sure, though.

I was a big fan of Since I Left You, and a HUGE fan of Wildflower, but none of the pre-release singles for this new one seemed to float my boat, however I listened to the full album a few times over the weekend and have concluded that it's actually pretty good. I mean, all in all it's probably my least favourite Avalanches record, but it's definitely not as weak as I'd anticipated.

I think my main issue with this new album is how they've traded some of their arrangement chops for guest vocal spots. In my opinion, Wildflower hit the perfect balance of including guests without putting them on a pedestal - it felt like the vocals were another instrument being used to drive the composition forward, whereas on WWALY, it feels like the guests own the songs.

But yeah, overall, I like it more than I don't. My personal highlights are We Go On, Music Makes Me High, Born to Lose and Music is the Light.

Hot dog, thanks for the heads up! Totally missed this. Wildflowers never really grew on me, but I barely gave it a chance so gonna revisit that too.

Listened through once - I'm really digging it. I skipped Wildflower so I probably need to revisit that here soon, but SILY is still a top album for me. So damn good!

Born To Lose and The Divine Chord are my favourites, gems, , but the entire album is a great experience.
