Watching the new Bond movie just reminded me what a song this is, pretty much perfect.
John Barry, Hal David, Louis Armstrong, enough said.

I've played so many tunes in the period between Boxing Day and New Year that it's difficult to properly focus my attention on just one artist, so with it being 'a whole nother year' here's a retrospective. :D

So soulful and well produced, slick doesn't begin to describe this song. The bass licks and crunchy drum pattern make it.
Thundercat - lava lamp

70s sounding, almost like Paul McCartney and wings.
Super furry animals - back on a roll

"I've seen the evenings slide away." it’s odd how the lyrics perfectly describe me at the moment.
Brian eno - golden hours

I always play this at this time of year, pastoral in the first part, and then a epic yelling from Peter Gabriel at the end. It takes you on a journey. Brilliant.
Genesis - stagnation

A great song/album to transition into the new year, and summation of how I've felt these last couple months:

"No one lifts their hands
No one lifts their eyes
Justified with empty words
The party just gets better and better

I went away alone
With nothing left
But faith"

Gib mir die Hand
Ich bau' dir ein Schloss aus Sand
Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann
Die Zeit ist reif für ein bisschen Zärtlichkeit
Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann

For some reason, I've been listening to Celldweller instrumentals all week, which is my preferred method, since Klayton shines more as a producer than a lyricist anyway. At least I can say I still enjoy all the bands I listened to prominently in high school, just some with a different perspective

Pioneer of the Musique Concrete experimental electronic genre of the 60s and 70s, this is a track originally composed by Pierre Henry in 1967 on the 'Messe pour le temps present' album.
The twist in this tale starts in 1997, thirty years later. Both Pierre and musician collaborator Michel Colombier decided that for the 30th anniversary they would ask some of the biggest names in Drum 'n' Bass, Techno, House and Big-Beat if they would remix the original tracks for an upcoming release.
Behind the mixing desk were among the best.
Coldcut, Fatboy Slim, William Orbit, Tek 9 & Chateau Flight were just a few who featured on the compilation.

This has to be one of my favourite albums. Hardly anyone knows this release, but if you fancy taking a gander, here's the playlist

The riff that starts building around the 2 minute mark is for some reason very nostalgic for me, even though I know I've never heard this song as a kid, and no I'm not just thinking of "Sandstorm" (fun fact: Darude actually covered this in 2015)

I wonder how long it took scroobius to lip-sync correctly all those lyrics in each cut of that video.

Dirty bass from Robert Fripp? Leering vocals?
It can only be the piece of post-punk dread that is Peter Gabriel's Exposure!

Great musicianship on this song. An interestingly jazzy bit of psych-pop.

Is it just me that hears a train arriving at a station in the intro?

Beck - Wave
phpBB [media]

I love how echoing and distant beck seems here.
Strangely I can't quite describe this sound. A slightly odd sensation.......Solemn, yet climactic.
Also i'm a sucker for orchestral pieces. 8)

Music from a very weird, borderline shitpost, platformer that took over a decade for someone to upload the full soundtrack somewhere. This particular track is more techno in style, but honestly the whole thing is worth a listen:

Also, a playthrough is worth watching too. One of the boss fights is against HAL 9000.

I have always preferred this version more than the original. You get to hear a lot more than in the shorter SEL version, Fantastically structured!
