It’s 2021 and Tom Jones no longer gives a single flying fuck:

This is great!

The guitars sound like they’re from Radiohead’s Hail to the Thief! It ends with a big noisy squall!

Artificial Energy - The Byrds

Sat working on updating spreadsheets in the freezing cold. How I'd much rather be speeding with the Byrds in 1967 LA....

Chumbawamba - ... Here's the Rest of Your Life

"We can and will run the factories and mills
We can and will educate ourselves
We can and will work the fields
We can and will police ourselves
We can and will create and build
Organise!
Here's the rest of our lives!"

"This is for the do-gooders that the no-gooders used and then abused
For the truth tellers tied to the
Whippin' post, left beaten, battered, bruised
For the ones whose body hung from a tree like a piece of strange fruit
Go hard, last words to the firing squad was, 'fuck you too'"

I went on a search for the old BoC web loops (from their old sites) and fortunately someone has preserved them on youtube, which is sweet (they can also be downloaded from the Internet Archive):

But the real point of my post is Helios' 'remix' of the old 2 second BoC web intro. He takes a 2 second loop and creates a full track that ranks right along side the brothers' best work, in my opinion. It's soooo good. Just wanted to remind people of this.

I've gotten obsessed with Lorn's last two releases, Zero Bounce and Drown the Traitor Within. Inky, jet black electronic doom. So good.

Mike Watt (feat. Eddie Vedder & Dave Grohl)

I asked him if he knew what time he had
He said he wasn't sure, maybe a quarter past

The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's

I peered in his eyes as we stood in line just to have a look
But the pages I found looked like an unbound coloring book

The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's
The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's

It's not reality
Just someone else's sentimentality
It won't work for you

Baby boomers selling you rumors of their history
Forcing youth away from the truth of what's real today

The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's

Stadium minds with stadium lies gotta make you laugh
Garbage vendors against true defenders of the craft

The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's
The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's

It's not reality
Just someone else's sentimentality
Look what it did to Watt

[Mike Watt]
(Speaking as a child of the 70's)

The kids against the 70's
Kids against the 70's

The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's
The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's
The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's
The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's

I'd never really listened to Lorn before, now I have. Good suggestion, thanks!
