There are quite a few music producers here, I would like to hear everyones sound! So thought I would start a thread where we post tracks we are really proud of...

For me, its gotta be "Newman" off of my latest album. Its just such a vibe, and I had fun playing with the Cs-70m to get a few of the sounds.

Keep to tracks and try not to post entire albums, these should be finished tracks !!! :) best picks!

Newman is indeed quite a bop. Love the bouncyness.

I guess I'm most proud of this song at the moment, though its a tricky choice. I have an whole album like this just sitting around waiting for me to add the vocals for the last 6 years.

A very moody atmosphere is created with those synths. Production-wise the depth achieved in the echoed bird-calls feels somehow 3D. Imagery-wise I'm picturing a slow, graceful, gothic strut. 'Open Source Music' is a great album title by the way and seems like a worthy concept in general.

Great retro nostalgic feel. Interesting syncopations that keep you guessing. Whoa, it gets even more complex in the second half.. like 70's progressive jazz virtuosity has been shifted forward into an 80's pop palette. DOWNLOADED.

From my music I choose this one: https://cv-slime-800.bandcamp.com/track/hide-the-m since it's the closest I ever got to Ultravistor/Drukqs/Detrimentalist levels of detail.

Thank you! The album was made entirely made open source and I plan on building an open source music platform eventually and this will be the first album I put onto it. I used LMMS for a few of the tracks (an open source DAW). I really got inspired by the Human League (their first two albums) with their really simple but detailed electronic sounds, Thomas Dolby and a bunch of other 80s electronic guys. I also used the Fairlight CMI extensively to pay tribute to the first ever digital audio workstation.

I love "Hide-The-M" these sounds are actually so well crafted. Lots of really nice bleeps and bloops and Akai magic. This is actually some solid IDM. Congratulations. Reminds me a lot of the stuff I like to make, we should collaborate!

Wow! This is really funky fresh. It reminds me of Mitch Murder and the stuff he makes which is a huge compliment as I consider him to be the peak of 80s funk/synth wave. Very nice!

:) I sent you a message (or rather an email via Twoism, I hadn’t tried that before). Check your spam folder if you don’t see it, I found the copy that was supposed to go to my inbox in spam for some reason.

I've always loved your tunes Cupz, and this here is surely a bop!! Love that bass so much.

I'm currently very proud of this demo made on the polyend tracker. Guess who the main influence is lol..

This is lovely :) I love the bird you've got chirping away in this mix, the best instrument.

Manages to be both electronic and organic (even insectoid) at the same time. Nice. The timing gets interesting, it's not so much odd-timed but it's as if the bar-length is occasionally glitching out. The 'sinister' in the title is apt, reminds me of Autechre's more menacing stuff.

I love your description 'insectoid is great' :) and yeah I'm glad you picked up on The Autechre vibe, they've been a huge influence on me lately. Thanks for listening!

Lush melodic treatments and voicings! The intro gives me Buckie High vibes, but then it gets to the bridge section and goes somewhere else entirely. Great work!

Great funkiness! Love when it jumps into 5 and starts soaring! The pads that start overtaking the mix at the end, so good.

Enjoyed this but wished it went on longer. Programming-heavy arrangements like this can make each second quite laborious to create, so I understand not wanting to work on a track for several months before it's finally 'finished'. Nice work though!

Lovely slice of moody idm. I love the use of the Super Metroid synth & vocal pads; very nostalgic for me even upon my first listen. I have sampled sfx from SM plenty.

For me, it's probably this one that I released this past October 'Never Leave Today'. I started this track in 2017 and worked on it on & off through 2024. I know lots of producers & musicians hate taking too much time on a track & just want it to be over and not overtweaked/overwrought. This track is probably all those things, but I enjoyed continually returning to it and adding imperceptible details. https://nebleena.bandcamp.com/track/never-leave-today
Been working faster on more recent tracks though, perhaps feeling more confident.

That was beautiful my dude. I have been loving the Sweguno so much. Its like a lush garden of texture. Crazily detailed. The vocal work? enchanting swells? thats awesome as well, inspired me to try it in my own stuff :) I also think you use the same vocal sample from my favorite "Ott" track as well in the mid section.. You've gotta tell us a bit how that was all done when you get a chance. If it hasn't already been posted here :)

I've been asked to score a video game. Can't disclose which one! But its my first time I've been trying out orchestral music? I guess? You'll have to tell me if you like it or not..

Never shared this one here, I don't think. Small Times (Featuring Livefromthecity)

Background on the song:
ER: This lyric couplet really sticks out to me: “Walk across the bridge and hope nobody pushes me off / Wait for the traffic lights to signal that it’s safe to walk / Stop for wine / no stop for coffee / stop for nothing at all / just need to get home / just need to get home.” It feels so evocative and vulnerable, grounded in a specific moment. Could you go into these words a little bit?

The drowning of Dakota James in 2017 is something crosses my mind every single time I walk across a bridge. Every single time. That bridge or not. I didn’t personally know him, but it really gave the entire LGBTQIA+ community in Pittsburgh pause. His death was ruled an accidental drowning, but even the Dakota James Foundation’s website has a blurb on their homepage that detectives and professors are convinced that most of these types of drowning are homicides. We don’t know, and I don’t want to speculate, but I wanted to give this type of story a voice. As a Queer artist, I will always include Queer subtext in my work and try to give a voice to those who don’t or feel as if they don’t have one — always.

I don’t know if Livefromthecity inherently picked up on this context? I never asked him, but thinking about it now, his verse aligns really deeply with loss and grief.

You can connect the indecision of wanting to stop for wine or coffee, then deciding to go home with the lines ‘I want to suspend my love for you.’ “Small Times” was written, in part, about trying to make sense of my life in the face of a breakup with a longterm boyfriend. I would cross the Andy Warhol Bridge daily to go to my day job, then try really hard to find reasons to stay out after work. I was still living with this man, and as a result, didn’t want to spend time at home. Do I want to be caffeinated in the evening and suffer from insomnia? No. Do I want to go home drunk and feel bad about myself? No. Okay, I’ll go home, but I don’t want to.

At the same time, I was completely miserable in trying to re-acclimate myself into society after recovering from a disability that left me homebound and completely reliant on that boyfriend and my family. To have so many collapses in such a short span of time…I’d never felt such isolation in my life. Sometimes I didn’t even want to be around me — I strangely even felt fully isolated from myself and tried to encapsulate these feelings.

ER: Another lyric question: I’m really curious about the refrain “The city’s about me.” It’s such a unique construction of words. How did that fragment come together with “even if I feel much bigger than it / I still feel so small at times”?

People who live in Pittsburgh have a lot of pride about the city itself and I wanted to put that into the song, but, I guess I’ve lived in opposition to that a little bit. I’ve lived in the Pittsburgh area for almost my entire life, but I’ve almost always felt like I’m trying to claw my way out. I grew up in a suburb an hour outside of the city and didn’t have a good time there as a little Queer kid — moved near the city only to find that the city is like a small town, just a little more population dense. I don’t know, I’ve always liked the vibes of Toronto, Chicago, or New York — bigger places with a lot of people, diversity, and things to do. But, at my core, I’ve spent so much time in Pittsburgh that I know it’s a city that will always been a large part of me.

This is really nice though, clean and sunny! I like it a lot.

The thing I'm most proud of is this, from oh god about 10 years ago now: https://soundcloud.com/waifarray/red-crystal-sea

This was done for a One on Twoism that never happened. I've been making music forever but tend not to finish much, I just get too frustrated at knowing what I want to make and burn out trying to force it to be exactly that. This project was me letting go of that finally, and just letting things be what they want to be. It was working a LOT better. I had a bunch of stuff cooking, but a hard drive crash lost a bunch of stuff, about 2 years of music that hadn't been backed up, including the sessions for this, all that exists of it finished is what's uploaded here. Still, moved to Sheffield a year ago and I've been getting back into doing things.

I have always been quite fond of this track I was able to capture a few years back, and I come back to it often to find new inspiration. Unfortunately, I did not bother to record in better quality before shutting off the gear and losing my patches :-?

This thread showed up in my 'unread threads' today and I've enjoyed quite a few of these. Thanks to everyone for sharing.

I think I was motivated to start finishing tracks and up my game by the idea of getting on a One on Twoism compilation but it never happened.

I put out an album about a year ago now. I am pretty proud of the whole thing, but today I am most proud of this track https://bendu.bandcamp.com/track/wolff

This thread has been tumble weeds since boc blew their horn. Yes, we get it. They are going to make a very amazing and fantastical album. But..

What do you think of my hexagon?
Heaxgon originally started in 2021! I think the version shown here is the 4th... recorded at the tail end of 2023!!!
