Their new album is being released this week so far as I'm aware... It's been a few years in the making!

Interesting.. I knew I downloaded 2 albums a while ago:
* Stars of The Lid - Avec Laudenum
* Stars of The Lid - The Tired Sounds of Stars of The Lid

I didn't think it really grabbed me back then.. dunno.. i'm downloading their latest creation right now and will give it a chance once again.

It does sound interesting..

I had listened to some of their stuff in the past.. (have to support fellow Texans)

But..

GODDAMN THIS NEW STUFF IS HOT SHIT FOR REAL OK

Why is their new album labeled "EXPLICIT" on iTunes..?

I can't wait until I get to the naughty bits.

I'm listening to 'Their Refinement of the Decline" right now and it really makes me feel like something incredibly religious and galactically important is happening right now.

But really I'm just at my pc, endlessly organizing my tunes. Sigh.

One of my favourite artists of all time. Achingly beautiful. Ballasted Orchestra is still the one I come back to but Refinement is excellent.

Check out Brian McBrides solo work too, and The Dead Texan.

I believe genius behind The Dead Texan is Adam Wiltzie of Stars of the Lid... "The Struggle" is an excellent track from that project... highly recommend

Bump!

My roommate just gave me Tired Sounds, Refinement, and Music has the Right to Nitrous Oxide on a USB drive.

I love it! Great great ambient, the best! Reminds me of Manual & Jess Khar's The North Shore!

For those who missed this - a teaser for the SOTL movie due in 2010. Looks nothing short of stunning.

according to McBride, the band’s name refers to “your own personal cinema, located between your eye and eyelid”, suggesting the colors and patterns one can see with closed eyes.” ...this makes me smile!

me too, I just read that this morning. Awesome concept - and it makes the music instantly accessible to anyone with eyelids!
