The other day I got this message at the Twoism Records account:

Hi!
Thank you for adding to your friends’ list! I am not sure, if you know our festival well. That’s why I will start with the small introduction...

We are a group of organizers of one of the biggest open-air chill festivals in Latvia Klusa Daba – Still Life. This is 24 hours meditative ambient music performance made to popularize various shapes of contemporary art, including ambient music and lives vj acts. The main goal of the fest is to create music and visual conceptual island of peace in the middle of the city environment and daily rush.

The event will take place for the third time in August 2008 in Riga, the capital of Latvia, at the AB pier on the Daugava River – almost island, straight across the famous Riga Old Town. The festival will be held within the cultural program “White Nights Europe” that unites Riga with such European capitals as Paris, Rome, Brussels and Madrid.

Attendance of the festival is FREE. The approximate number of visitors is about 4000 people. The target audience of the fest is socially and culturally active people, young artists, students, families with children, city guests and others.

We would like to offer to the Twoism artists an opportunity to participate in our fest this year. For instance this could be a company of 2-3 artists, representing the label.

Cupz, as the enterance to this festival is free I don't expect them to pay for tickets. The distance from Holland to Latvia approx is 1500 km so it'll only be a 24 hour drive...

Although I think they won't compensate anything I will ask for you.

aesthetics: why don't you just go and DJ? that way, all of our shit will be played without us having to fork out loads of cash. would love to go though, i'd say latvia from dublin is about a 4/4.5 hour plane journey.

edit: just thinking, it actually wouldn't be that fair seeing as you'd have to pay for it. i dunno. surely there's someone close by who could play?

Ok, I´m going to do this for sure.

It would be lovely if people on this board could help me pay (maybe by making donations on my paypall)

But if no-one is going to sponsor me, I guess I´ll have to pay it myself. No big deal though.

Ticket cost is:

EUR 259.32 (incl. taxes, returning back to the Netherlands etc.)

to Riga, Latvia. I still have to find out how to go to the festival. Maybe some people that will go can pick me up or something. Are you going aesthetics? Maybe even just for managing?

Any exact dates?

I forgot the say that the festival crew need to hear some more stuff from the artists who like to go. So they know what to expect.

ross adey: well, I'm more like a living room DJ rather than a party DJ.. I'm also about to move to a beautiful house me and my girl bought so all money will go into that. On top of that, I think that the artists should go... it's their music which made it happen.
In other words, I won't be going.

Cupz: it'll be in August 2008. I bet the exact date will be announced pretty soon. (see my above answer about your question)

But people, please donate!!! This isn´t just about me (although playing to that big of an adience is probably one of the best things I´ll achieve in my life) , this is about getting the forum and OoT to the people!
