For the last 3 years I've been trying to achieve a nice cocktail of analog aesthetics using only softwares. (To lazy to buy hardware)

I think I've finally nailed the formula, this is my latest bunch of test clips put together.

The audio was achieved using Aura Qualic's Fl studio "VHS" Patch (It's not really a plugin its a mixing patch that you drag and drop in fl studio) And the plugin "Bionic Supa Delay" to had the Flutters and wows. (I really had to contain myself when adding those, its too easy to go overboard with them  )

Video was achieved using Vsynth74 for the visuals (Really cool software based video synthesiser if you don't want to fork 800$ to buy an hardware based one)

The VHS effect was achieved using VHSPro a Unity3D plugin (60$)

god I look back on my beat-loop "music" from last summer and cringe so hard

maybe one day I can actually manage to make music on my own and not experiment with pre-made loop stuff... I'd have like tons more fun

Honestly I don't see much wrong with this as long as you can put your own creativeness into it.

Sorry to hear about the fire. That's rough, man.

Ya, I play drums a bit. Not a lot. Probably the most complex thing I can play is Odd Nosdam - Small Ax. I'm not about to play a drum solo in a rush song or anything though. hahaha.

I'm getting into playing guitar. A guy at the local music store gave me an acoustic guitar for free because he "sees potential". I had a grin on my face for the rest of the week.

Made this with it today:

@747MUSIC Cool lo-fi guitar track The Woodmans Lullaby. Made this on acoustic guitar, but its more ambient texture.

Something I've been 'working' on:
half-time drums, lazy ambient music - ended up sounding like something off 'a few old tunes' - not consciously, but I realized the aesthetic I was going for was from there:

I like it but the non-beats are buried way too far back in the mix. It would sound better if you moved them to the forefront imo

Something I finished today - just ear-tearing ambient
https://soundcloud.com/soulstudiosprese ... -balmarage

More of an interlude track than anything else :}

I like!
I can't find the download link for vsynth74 I don't suppose you still have it do you? I was trying to achieve something similar in after effects but, if this is for max msp then even better!

This is what I've been working on today. It's basically taking some of the notes I've written while rereading the music theory thread and putting them into action. Also experimenting with abusing some tape simulator plugins.

So I haven't posted on this topic in... quite a while (rarely elsewhere). Four years. Nice. Whee.

This samples a song my high school wind ensemble played in our last concert in my senior year. It felt fairly important to me, so I went ahead and made a whole damn ambient thing out of it. It's got a few good ideas in it I think.

Don't ask me where all the 100+ listeners came from. Bots or some sh:t. I did absolutely nothing.

Not sounds but video. I decided to bring out my old Tube camera with a very old and worn out tube and do video rescans (I basically have the camera pointed at the monitor playing the video) (Im taking requests btw)

I've done Reach For The Dead, I like the feel it gives the video, the old tube is bad with colors and needs a lot of exposure for it to capture the image or else its very faint, so I had to ramp up the contrast and the white balance is quite messy, if I do the normal white balance I don't get much colors so I have to ramp up the reds with the little knob on my camera but it seems to give out a lot of red noise too because I had to put it to a 6db boost, I might change the tube one day If I find out how, its a quite complex task ...
