Yeah Tool. Very different music than BOC, but they share some things. Weird song structures, the love for numbers, the whole mysterious stuff. The new album (10,000 days) is coming out in about 3 weeks now. I wonder if anyone of you ever listen to Tool, and if you like them.
I'm a big fan anyway, can't wait for the new album.
And their videos are great ofcourse. Hope to see them live this summer.

If you like Tool you might want to check out Pelican and Barkmarket. They both play along those heavy mathematical epics.

I love Tool, as I've said many times before on this board. I'm excited for the new one, I heard the single is really good.

Ahh yeah I got Aenima a little while ago, really powerful over my system. "Forty Six & 2" just blows my mind.

I'm sure people criticize Tool for making their songs so drawn out, but I rather like it... it's a much more electronica-minded approach, without the electronica of course. My view of them is limited to one album though, my perspective may change if I get any more of their stuff.

May I suggest you buy(/dl) Lateralus? You won't be dissapointed.
I don't like the older albums that much, except for some songs. I mean they're still great, but the new albums are way better in my opinion. AEnima and Lateralus, and now maybe 10,000 days is it for me.

Tool sucks or sucks Tool? That is the question. I just read that they're coming to D-town, and tickets cost $66.66. Hmm, where did they get that idea?

i've never gotten around to checking this band out even though I used to worship A Perfect Circle. Mer de Noms is still one of my favorite albums ever.

I agree with D4VER on this one. However he forgot to add...Godflesh, Pelican, Torche, Tusk, Vancouver, Tides, Barkmarket, JESU. Tool don't suck by any means, but.....

ahhhh the Swans. Thank you. Have you heard Larsen at all? horrible name, but they are from Italy. I don't know a whole lot about them except that they were recorded that dude from the Swans. Apparently they would send him random CDR with hours of jamming "to show their range". No pics of the band or names were ever given. Then one day they sent him a plane ticket and 5 grand I think to fly to Italy and record them. They played behind screens and never spoke to him apparently. Pretty crazy band

I'm resurrecting an old-assed thread for this, but I think it's worth it.

Here's video of Tool performing Sober in 1992. This is about as close to Maynard as you'll ever get. What an amazing voice. It's nearly identical to the album in every live performance I've ever heard from them.

And to echo a previous comment, Eulogy is a truly fantastic song.

First saw Tool live in the Summer of 1993 and I just remember being knocked sideways. A bunch of us went on a whim, having only really seen the video for Sober and not knowing much else about them. Maynard still had that long Mohican haircut and spent the entire gig prowling the stage like some Indian-Rubber-Man in a pair of fetching lycra leggings - STARING out into the crowd with piercing, bulging eyes and rarely lifting himself more than about 12 inches from the stage as he lurched about.

I'll never forget how much attitude he had then too. When they finished their main set, the crowd were going nuts screaming for an encore. After 5 minutes, out strolls Maynard, totally nonchalant and picks up the mike. Dismissive as you like - he says, "Sorry, but that's all we have to say." drops the mike and walks off again like he really didn't give a flying fuck. Eventually, they came back out of course.... happy memories.

In love with the dark side I'd found.
