I just saw on BoC's official Facebook and Twitter feeds the status update of "RIP Peter". Anyone know what they're talking about?

EDIT: Looks like FB has answered it for me... http://www.facebook.com/boardsofcanada/ ... 2200300150

Were the brothers involved personally with this guy?

well, he did do lots of album work and music videos.
he's probably just well known in the music industry.
at least the uhh..
well, the music industry that has to do with pink floyd, rage against the machine, nine inch nails, peter gabriel, etc.

he did some work for Hipgnosis.

probably just the band (or whoever controls the band's facebook) just giving their condolences.

RIP indeed.

For anyone interested, I'd recommend publications by San Fran-based indie publisher Re/Search on Throbbing Gristle..

The beginning is also the end
Time defines it, time unwinds it
It will end
Like close friendships
Nothing could be further
We forget the space between people and places
Is empty
We forget, and don't notice the loss
And don't notice the loss

Just now heard about this, so sad.

The strange thing for me - about 3 weeks ago I dug out my old copy of How to Destroy Angels (the reissue/remix disc) and I became fascinated with the track "The Sleeper II". It has taken over as my favorite COIL track I think. I've listened to it a couple of times a day since then. Now I hear that Peter died in his sleep.

The Sleeper....
