So anyone else on here get the new Tron soundtrack today? I did and listening to it now for the first time, I'm impressed I must say, its daft punk with an EPIC orchestra and it works so well!
I also managed to avoid all leaks and reviews so I had only heard 'Derezzed' so its a lot to take in on first listen.

What do you guys think of it?

I've listened to about half of it. Not too impressed... it sounds a nit like a generic film soundtrack, whether it's Daft Punk or not.

i had been really really looking forward to this for like, a year. i was somewhat disappointed with it. it's just not Daft Punk-y enough for me. too much orchestral shit for my tastes.

Derezzed tho.

Orchestral is good - IMO this is Daft Punk's best release to date.

i think it's great. derezzed and solar sailor are the stand out tracks, but i like what they did with the entire album. some of the other tracks remind me of bladerunner's score.

Just got it in the mail today.

Was surprised by the orchestra taking such a leading role, BUT after listening to it a couple times I'm really starting to dig it.

Can't wait for the film!

I always found Daft a bit too repetitive and stuck in their tracks - correct me if I'm wrong (I havn't listened to their whole catalog to be honest) but I find this release much more varied and a big fat underscore under the fact that Daft Punk has got some hidden moves up their sleeve.

Not sure what people are thinking? This is a movie score not music video,also there are some superb tracks on this 2CD.Plus this shows us another side to the band,and i for one love this! But ive been a fan of the movie and now Daft punk doing the score,hmmmmmmmm icing on the cake yum yum.

Though I dont think it will be an album that I will spin very often, I really like it. I love how every album they have done is totally different to the one previous. They are a really special act in my eyes and this is another great addition to the catalogue.

Try listening to it with the lights down. Sounds epic

While I love Daft Punk, their brand of "songwriting" usually entails writing about 20 seconds of music and looping it for 3 or more minutes while turning tracks on and off. Discovery saw them break from this for the most part, but Human After All was a huge step backward, with chord progressions that never go anywhere and blatantly lazy song arranging based around stretching out as little actual content as possible. Homework is a fun album, but come on. So much of Daft Punk's music consists of the start of a great idea followed by a ton of wasted potential.

I was a bit worried that Tron Legacy's soundtrack would end up similarly half-assed, but I loved the 20-minute sampler of it. Can't wait to hear the rest; the positive remarks about it in here give me even more hope that it'll be brilliant.

I'm really enjoying the new music video track, makes me want to go out and see the new Tron now

Just back from seeing Tron:L, have to say, I loved it, its cheesy as hell but DP's soundtrack goes so EPICly well with the film! And there cameo is kinda cool.

What has everyone else thought bout the film? I dont think there was any need for 3d really, but was a nice bonus i guess.

What did you think of the film ryetron? Would love to see it on IMAX, seems like the ordinary film screen is not big enough for this film.

I too prefer this soundtrack to previous Daft Punk stuff, never been a major DP fan to be honest.

I loved it. It was an incredible ride, especially in IMAX 3D. The story is shit, as was the lead actor, but who was expecting more than a fun action movie? Daft Punk's soundtrack went REALLY well with the movie. I'd been waiting over half of my life to see this film and as far as I'm concerned, it delivered.
