Can anybody recommend me some decent DJ software?

There is an opening at a bar that would absolutely make my life if I'd get. Something inexpensive would be best. Even something as simple as just being able to cross-fade from one track to another.

I'll probably just be DJing digitally. It's a bar in a suburb, so nothing too elaborate. I've played around with PCDJ Red at two events and really liked it for it's simplicity. Any feedback from that? Any other recommendations?

I am operating on a Mac.

Edit: speakers and a basic mixer or nice inexpensive bundle recommendations would be appreciated as well.

I only have experience with NI's Traktor. Its really great, but I believe you need some special hardware for it to work properly.

awesome, but you will need two turntables or CDJ to use with the provided timecoded CD/VINYL. And a laptop of course. But it's absolutely nice to have.

A lot less expensive than the total NI setup. You just need the Xponent and TORQ software and a laptop and you're good to go! Check on youtube for some vids of it in action! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwLfwiyFx28

Traktor looks like it would add up price-wise, or I would totally invest in that! (And it has an awesome name..Traktor? Like Tractor? Har har).

Xponent and Torq look great & I really like the sync button & the outputs on the back for monitor and booth speakers.

$750+ is a bit out of my price range because I still need to purchase speakers, but I'm seeing a lot of retails selling them for $300, which isn't bad at all. Leaning toward this one so far!

Is it bad that I'm plotting on how to sneak in some Boards of Canada in my sets? "Oh, the Adele song is over? How about ROYGBIV?!!" I believe I will secretly play "Magic Window" as the closing track every night..........

I have one of these and i can't recommend it highly enough. I'm sure they come with a free version of traktor LE which is more than enough for your first kit. The only major difference between LE and pro is the pro allows you to mix 4 tracks at once( in which case you'll need to invest in better decks).

I have neither experience nor talent in music making, nevertheless a friend of mine play some drone-y guitar tunes, Mark Mcguire wannabe style, and i would love to add some really low drum line to that. Therefore i need some Mac OS software to do the job. I just need something simple, not the bloated all wonder Ableton/Pro Tools and friends kind. Any advice?

I checked it last night, it feels really cool, but the true is my macbook is getting old and i don't find it very practical to have my cpu running at 90% during the time i'm messing around with some tune.
