Hey folks, I started a little project for my next release. It's called Project Drugs. It'll be a while before it's finished, but I have 3 songs as a teaser. Keep in mind that I quickly rendered the songs for the purpose of a teaser, so they may not sound the same once the project is done.

Anyways, I hope you like them. Please leave a comment.

Cymbalta

Seroquel

Zyprexa

Thank you,
Tyler

Are these tracks meant to somehow mimic one's (your) feeling while using the substance in question?
I like the intensity and cacophonous effect of 'Seroquel' and the '80s new wave vibe on 'Zyprexa'.

Thanks for listening. And yes, the tracks are supposed to represent the drug to an extent. These are basically anti-psychotics and anti-depressents that I am currently on. I'm on a few more drugs so expect more soon. lol.

That's an awesome song. I have to listen to more Christ. But yeah, that sounds about right.

You're on Cymbalta, Seroquel, Zyprexa and more? Dang brah. Respect. I don't think I could ever handle being on more than 1 prescription substance at a time.

I'm on 7 prescriptions at the moment. It's not so bad. They seem to be working ok for me. They don't solve everything, but they really suppress a lot of symptoms of the illnesses and disorders that I have. Thanks for the comment.

So what did you guys think of the song Codeine?

I don't like how "Seroquel" sounds at all, but the track itself is very good.

I know that sounds like a contradiction - it provokes a reaction, but an unsettling one.

It's threatening, sinister and claustrophobic in a way that would make it difficult to listen to for an extended period.

I'm not familiar with the drug but if this track is a representation of the effect, I think I'd have to steer clear and dissuade anyone I even remotely know from taking it

This is not usual -- first time I've reacted to a (actually quite interesting) song in this particular 'negative' way, so make of that what you will!

Neat idea.

Gotta say I'm now hooked on Zyprexia because of this track! 8) Seriously, what did it for me was the sustained string in the background. LOVE stuff like that. Creates an ominous, powerful vibe when done right. Makes it seem like something dramatic is gonna happen!

Seroquel. I'm gonna have to say you tapped into something subconscious with this one. It sounds like a dream that sticks in your mind, leaving you with a weird feeling all day long. I detect a subtle Aphex influence here.

Cymbalta is very warm and squishy.

The only thing that kills it for me is sidechain compression on the bass drum. This is just my opinion, but it's like getting punched in the gut continuously. Sucks the air right out of the track. That'd be my only compliant, sir! Fun idea and hypnotic tunes!

Thanks for listening. The drug seroquel in itself is not a very "threatening, sinister and clausterphobic" drug in regular doses. But if you take a bunch of it all at once, it most definitely is. This song represents the feelings I went through when I took a lot of it at once years ago. I'd never do it again. The drug works quite well if you take the doctors recommended dosage. Maybe I should've explained that earlier.

Thanks for the comments. Aphex's influence is definitely in these songs. As for Cymbalta, I'll lessen or get rid of the sidechain compression for the next rendering. Now that I listen to it again I think you may be on to something there. Thank you for mentioning that. How do I get better at making tunes unless I have creative input, right? So all comments are welcome and appreciated. Especially for a work in progress project like this one.

Woah! That song sounds like it's torn to shreds. It's actually quite good. I've never tried Abilify before though. It sounds cool though.

I'm working on Ativan (Lorazepam) right now. I'm going to bed, I'll try to finish it tomorrow. Gonna work on the other tracks as well tomorrow.

A 1980s Drug Mart? :P That's a good thing really! I like the tones.

For a moment I wasn't sure if this was going to be in a 3/4 time sig or what!
