Boards of Canada Tribute Compilation 2025

Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:23 pm

Twoism.org is chock-full of very talented visual artists, musicians and all-around cool people.
I think if we lock our collective arms together we can make some really beautiful fan-art.
Is this another One On Twoism or something new? Maybe. Who knows? Does it matter at this point?

Here's what you do:

Musicians:
  • Make a boc tribute track
(whip out the molten flutey synths if that's what BoC means to you).
  • Tracks can't be longer than 6 minutes, 6 seconds and 6 milliseconds.
  • You must be the art's or track's rights-holder. (don't sample The Beatles, don't use AI).
  • Tracks must be exclusively released for this mix, not to be released on another comp or record (you won't give up any rights though, so scouts honor).
  • Send -exactly one finished track- to [email protected] with the subject:
    "Song: twoism_username - artist_name - song title"

Imagineers are also more than welcome to start creating visuals. This could mean:
  • Video footage/art that could be used for music videos.
  • Album concept art (don't know what this comp will be called so keep typesetting editable)
  • Any boc-esque visuals at all. To spread the good word of this comp later it would be cool if we could dazzle an audience with any psychedelic visuals. Even random swirly kaleidoscopic geometric shapes are welcome, but videos > images.
  • Send to [email protected] with the subject:
    "Video/art/image/website/influencer/whatever: twoism_username - artist name".

People that are good at spreading the good word of this comp around the internet once it is done are very welcome to contact me as well.

Submissions stay open until June 9th.

What happens after that?
  • If I receive less than 6 suitable tracks the comp will be cancelled, sorry. (this is very unlikely)
  • If I receive more than 16 suitable tracks I will assemble some twoismers to make a selection.
  • Get someone with really good ears and hardware to master the tracks.
  • Determine the order of the tracks on the comp.
  • Edit together one or two music videos using submitted video.
  • Compile all the art and music into a neat package.
  • Release to the public in the fourth quarter (video on youtube, album on Bandcamp).

I will most likely make a few polls later, if there are clear forks in the road. Like:
- What album art should we use?
- What proceeds should be donated towards (or spent on)?
- Do we want a physical release? Vinyl? Cassettes?
- ...etc.
We'll cross these bridges when we get there.

Let's make this one heck of a psychedelic, hauntologic, warm and warbly compilation!

Ready? let's go!

Hell yeah lets go! :) Have fun everyone. Looking forward to listening to everyones tunes.... I can't promise my track will be as good as "Magic Window" but it should be at least entertaining...

Love seeing this energy surface again. :)

I know from experience how elusive it can be, so I genuinely wish all of you the best with this, both inspiration and patience. Curious to see how it unfolds. Good luck, and respect for taking it on!

Wow, this sounds fantastic! Thanks Cupz for articulating this so well. And thanks to Twoism founders for having the Twoism Records subforum and related compilations in the first place. Exciting stuff! :D

Question: if there ended up being less than 6 suitable tracks submitted (unlikely) could those that have submitted be given a chance or some further time to submit a second track under the same artist name? I understand that ideally you want 1 submitted track per user, but if there was low participation could that restriction be relaxed? Hopefully this contingency is unnecessary.

And does submission as a solo artist preclude seperate submissions as a group or duo?

I'd argue if there are only so little submissions that proves there is not much interest in this. I'd rather just let the ship sink in that case.

No, submitting a track as a solo artist and as a band should be fine. If you let a different user submit it I won't think its just an alias.

Great to have your blessing <3

Awesome initiative.
Think back in the day I bought One on Twoism 1 to 5 (?) and enjoyed them all thoroughly.

Maybe reach out to some old contributors as well?

Someone on Reddit made a collection of BOC drum loops, some of which I think I'm going to dig into and recontextualise/reconfigure for my submission: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XXE-LAsA3fqUbID2TNqE09sjGZmrd_5E

I'm not that in-the-loop with the old contributors as I mostly live under a rock. But if you do, please do!

I sent one in a while ago, but I don't really like it, so I'm doing another version right now.

Sweet! I always wanted to submit something to an OoT volume back in the day but only ever contributed to our Christmas album if anyone else remembers that. Guess this is my chance 8)

I am tempted to join in on this. I have been a musician for decades but have only just dipped a toe into producing.
