Hi guys, as many of you know; my dad has cancer. He's a fan of BoC, and he introduced me to it as a young kid. If anyone would care to donate, my mother's (who's managing funds) PayPal email is [email protected].

If any of you find the kindness in your heart to donate even cents, it would be greatly appreciated.

Much love, Quinn.

Hi, and sorry to hear about your Dad.

I want to send some cash your way, but I'd personally like a little more info before I go about breaking the piggy bank. I live in the UK so I honestly have no idea how much this kind of thing costs but I assume we're talking tens, or even hundrends of thousands of dollars? What else are you doing to raise funds at the moment? I know you've been put through the wringer on this in the other thread, but would it be possible for you to give us a quick breakdown of what the anticipated costs are, what your current financial situation is, treatment plan, prognosis, other funding sources, etc? I think others would be more willing to donate too if we had some more information to go on, and it feels horrible to ask but perhaps even some proof? The more info you can give, the more people will be prepared to reach out to you I'm sure.

Sorry to be so sceptical, but it's difficult to part with what little hard-earned money I have purely on the word of a stranger on the internet, especially when I know so little about your situation. I'm 90% sure I believe you as I can't understand why someone would do such a horrible thing as to lie about something like this, but with your help I'd like to make that up to 100%.

Oh, I'm sorry that this post lacks detail. I assumed everyone from the Boards Of Canada part of the forum, where I initially explained it, was going to come here.
Anyway, my father was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma a few months ago. It's stage 2A, so it is 85% curable. Not survival, but curable. So, that's the good news.
The costs are tremendous, no socialized healthcare means out-of-pocket for MRIs, PET scans, and, unfortunately, chemo.
He's on the ABVD treatment at the moment, and this last week was his fourth round of it. It's the worst it's ever been. He, an energetic and very happy-go-lucky guy, is now bedridden and depressed, not to mention the pain, which is usually from his veins stiffening (no port.)
I know very little about the financial cost, but his job environment (luxury yacht engineer) is one he can't return to because of health hazards. Therefore, the family has lost half it's income. We've had a fundraiser and our GoFundMe account has helped tremendously.
I created this post as an addition to the one on the BoC forum, so, I apologize if it sounded overly blunt and dull.

I can vouch for the fact that yes, the OP does appear to have a sick dad. A big step would be to somehow have a greater level of accountability than an anonymous PayPal account and I think that would make a lot of people feel better about donating to the cause - I can't really provide advice on specifics for how to go about that though. Best of luck!

That's reassuring and I hate to be a dick but the word of two anonymous strangers is still not enough for me. What have you seen that makes you so sure that this is a legit claim if I might ask? I don't even know the name of the poor bloke we're trying to help here. I'd feel much more at ease if I could see some correspondence from hospitals/doctors, a link to your other fundraisers, facebook, or anything more substantial than a photo of a man holding two cassettes.

I feel like the bad guy here but I just want to get this out of the way to give you the best chance of getting the help you need.

I totally understand! Here's our outdated GoFundMe: http://www.gofundme.com/2aq524
It's just not particularly relevant to the forum, so I didn't post it. But you can read about everything there, even though it has some wrong info (mom made it.) She prefers her PayPal because it doesn't take a % commission.

Thanks for posting that link, it clears up a lot for me. Only wish you had posted it sooner. Money is on it's way!

Sorry for being a dick, but this is the internet after all.

Understandable concerns. I'll say that the gofundme link matches up with what I understand about it all, so I hope that settles peoples' reservations about it. I've been on Twoism awhile and can assure you that I wouldn't be vouching for this if it didn't pass the smell test over here.

Oh my God... Thank you so much! You haven't been a dick, I'd be just as skeptical!

I can't express how much this helps, both the emotional and monetary support. Head over to the Boards of Canada forum tomorrow, I think you'll really enjoy it!

Again, thank you so much. How thoughtful and generous.

Your dad is fucking cool. I have no credit cards and I stopped mining for bitcoins and litecoins a long time ago because they were burning up my laptop. If I could physically give you cash, I would. So sorry.

Thank you all so much, I greatly appreciate it. You all are such wonderful people. According to the doctor, my father has 2 more cycles (4 treatments) of chemo left, and then on to radiation.
