In Memoriam John, the guy in the photo, it's my job this year to introduce as many people as I can to the Scottish wilderness. I'll update this post with details as required.

Location

Travel
Mallaig to Inverie ferry runs hourly.
Mallaig is a ten hour drive from London, so arriving on Friday or splitting the journey over two days is highly recommended if you're travelling from England.

Arrangements
We'll be wild camping in an officially designated spot. You will need a tent and a head torch. The tent is mostly for protection from midges, although rain is a possibility so be prepared to wrap up warm. If you like fishing, bring a rod. If you like mussels, bring a spare bag. The best place to go shopping and stop off on the way up from Glasgow or Edinburgh is Fort William.

Fugee - maybe just set up a dummy FB ID like I did and then you can browse this stuff without getting drawn into the whole FB soul-sucking 'thing'

For those wondering, the reason I do all my event organizing via FB (which I hate but can't find a suitable alternative...yet) is that wild camping in England is illegal, at least technically. I also like to keep a handle on numbers rather than it becoming a free-for-all. For those REALLY not wanting to sell their souls to the FB devil, PM me for details and I'll try to oblige.

I heard that Eventbrite is supposed to be decent but I couldn't really be bothered, plus theres the fact Mexi is already using FB for the other one. Anyway, it isn't really a major issue for me to post about any updates and all that on here too. Wild camping in Scotland isn't illegal. In either case I doubt anyone would be looking if it were

Yeah man, or at least I'm going to give it my best shot. So far it looks very feasable. 20 euros for a bus to london. I wish I could make reservations for it right now but its to far ahead. Then a bus from london to Poole and then I'm not so sure what to do next. Maybe someone can pick me up there.

This is very paradoxial. That only makes FB less suitable for it.
It does feel for me like selling my soul, I'd really rather have some minimal html page with the plans so far, or even just the first post in this thread edited. I guess some people in my skype are able to help me out though.

(1) agree 100%. Frankly, it's a pain but a necessity at the moment. Fear not though, if you're in, we'll keep you in the loop somehow. You HAVE to be there man!
(2) sounds awesome! Be aware the Dorset event is pretty remote and involves a walk of well over a mile up/down a steep, rocky pathway. Most people over the past two years have been weighted down pretty severly just lumping the essentials to/from (ie. food, drink, firewood, camping gear etc). There is also zero mains electric anywhere nearby. Not sure about Techboy's event though - maybe they're more connected?

there certainly isnt mains on the camp site, lol. bring batteries if you need to. the walk to the campsite isnt so uphill at knoydart if you want to bring more stuff. if you've ever climbed a hill ever you'll be fine with dorset too.
