Tape Trade Nonsense & News
Just received an excellent tape from turquoise70. It is full of quirks and distored tunes. I can't wait to upload it. My other one is beyond repair so...I need to find a new one. I also want to state that the tapes do not have to be mix tapes. Once again...it could be a tapes that you found at a junk sale or thrift store. Its all apart of the experience. Also, there are whispers of saob creating a hub or blogspot on the internetz for tape trading. I really hope this happens. Stay tuned for details. Looking forward to a new year and new tapes.

Dave from 2001 has sent The Other a tape.
Geodesic has sent Dave a tape.
Dave has sent Geodesic a tape.
wwbjd has sent Dave a tape.
turquoise70 has sent a tape to the other

Received a new tape deck. Need to transfer dave and turquoise70's tapes as stated above. I can forward these to someone if they want to transfer them. I am with out a deck ATM.

How about, along with the tapes, we send a single, master tape upon which we twoismers record our personal messages? So in the end, we have a single tape with a little message from all of us?

i'm down as long as you agree to send it alllll the way to jordan where i'm currently living.. and wait 1-2 months for it to get there by snail mail.

I kind of think that is the beauty of it...not know when it is going to show up and from exactly where it is coming from. I am down to send a tape where ever.

I'd be down..possibly. Keep in mind electronic music isn't my main..joy. So it'd be different, but that's the point haha

Can we pound out the Instructions for the mixtapes real quick and simple? For those of us who've never done this before and don't want to tape over someone else's stuff wrongfully, or...some other mistake?

Yeah, first press eject, then put in the tape and press play. You will hear everything that has been recorded on it. At some point you will hear some silence. After about 2 seconds of silence, press stop. Then press record, and mention your deepest secret or something interesting, then press stop, and you should be good to go.

i'm in, but, are you saying the first person sends a mixtape then the second person sends two, the third three and so on?

Well I was thinking...
We map who is going to send a tape to who. We designate a day to start the circle. Everyone knows who they are sending to ahead of time. we decide on a day everyone will mail out their tapes. Once everyone recieves their tapes they report here. We listen, enjoy, copy, comment... etc etc. once everone reports here that they have recieved the tape and listened to it you send that tape away and recieve another until your original tape gets back to you.
To play off what saturday was talking about I was thinking that we only record on one side of the tape...and keep the other side blank. The blank side will be for recording as it passes through the hands of everyone.
This is one possible way of doing it...and just the idea i had in my head...I think it should be a group decision on how we do it. The process will last a long time which I think is kind of fun and will be a real treat when u get your tape back...and due to the fact it cost to send tapes (not very much i think) we dont have to turn around and send these rapidly...that may get pricey...so we will start a new cycle when everyone is ready... thoughts
