Yo dude, I think carbon brush is mostly for the odd time there is some obvious debris on the surface - I rarely use it. For day to day I use a Milty velvet brush, much less abrasive. You can also get goat hair brushes which are super soft. Have a browse.

By the way, I know its a long shot but I now have an Okki Nokki record cleaning machine, so if any of your records need a deep clean, you can post em to me and I will give them a proper vacuum clean, free of charge obviously! It's a great piece of kit, make records at least a grade better, I've bought some really old records from the 70s which are at least VG+ after a run through the machine.

That's the one I use. Had it for years (and an earlier version of it for many years before that). Can't say I've ever noticed any degradation of the vinyl from using it. I'm pretty gentle when cleaning vinyl anyway. Nothing gets too dusty if you use good inner sleeves when storing anyhow.

Good point though, if you do decide to send some records to me dude, maybe get some poly inners so its worth while! You can buy bulk on amazon from the vinyl guru, I use them and they are great. Or if you're feeling rich, Nagaoka do some lovely inners. Vinyl care can be a headache but its worth it in the long run.

have a Rotel RA-12 amp now... sacrificed a record player for now to get the best quality amp I could as I don't want to be in the 'upgrading process' . the DAC is a wonderful substitute to spin BOC for now. even playing physical CD's is really satisfying .

So I just got a cork turntable slip mat:

Who knew the difference would be so massive? I know it kinda sounds like classic Hi-Fi bollocks but the tracking and playback are seriously improved to a stock felt version. Not to mention it completely eliminates any static build up, once I clean records on the Okki Nokki then place them onto a felt mat they remain free of any crud, so cleaning and playing records is a far more effective experience. I just spun a recently cleaned first press of Sade's Diamond life (guilty pleasure, but sounds incredible) and it was a pretty revelatory experience. I recommend everyone invest, you can get em cheaper than the one I linked too.

I fear I am becoming the annoying HI-Fi enthusiast with no one to talk to haha. But trust me on this one.

It is in my interest to get one of those. The project stock felt mats are NOTORIOUS. Just terrible quality, they wrinkle and shed fibres, and build static like no other.

So related to record players, what do you guys think about buying a Stax SR40 with a SRD4 and a SRD7 for 100 euros. Is it too much?

Plucked this straight from the headfi forum:

"The SR-40 is an electret model and needs no bias voltage. Since the one you saw comes with the SRD-4, all you would need is a power amp/integrated amp/receiver and then you would hook up the SRD-4 to speaker outputs. The SR-40 would also work with any of the Stax amps. I have SR-80 and they have a very nice midrange, but are lacking in bass and treble compared to modern headphones. I wouldn't pay more than $75 for them, and only if in excellent condition."

I just want to have a pair of good headphones and I don't have much money. This looked like a good deal, I have seen that paying more than 70 dollars for the earspeaker and the driver is not recommended, but this looks like it's in good condition, and also comes with a driver (which I would probably sell if I end up buying this) for the more modern Lambdas and Omegas, at the moment I have a pair of JVC HAS400 conected to a Yamaha AX430 with a pair of VBL TLX 7 GI and a DJ1800B, and I wanted some kind of upgrade.

Well, within certain bounds of reason there isn't a right amount of money. If you like them and are willing to pay the price, go for it!

They look nice man. Just make sure the seller is legit (I don't use ebay much).

EDIT: That said, don't turn your nose up at modern headphones. Have you taken a look at the athm50s for instance? I have a pair, they are well reputed and they are within your price range.
