hey friends familiar with synths...

I've been an instrumentalist all my life, playing primarily upright/electric bass, percussion, and keyboards throughout school and college.

over the past couple years i've really wanted to experience an analog synthesizer firsthand and just engage in the process of understand what they do

do you think the analog reissue of the Korg MS-20 would be a good tool to learn with? I think its around 400-500 and it is fully analog.

Yes, the prices on those have dropped even lower than 400-500 recently. The layout of the Ms20 is just perfect for as you say, learning the process of what a synth does and it's all hands on, no meuns to be found.

And re-pham; double Mothers? Nice!!

Unknown Pleasures is fucking great if you're depressed. That album really helped me through some tough times. You might not be interested, but I found out a bit ago that the last thing Ian Curtis did before he committed suicide was call up Genesis P-Orridge and sing the Throbbing Gristle song "Weeping" over the phone.

Also watched a Polish film if I recall correctly, which is fucking depressing as well

Is that a Fiio X5?

I was wondering if I should get either that or an Ibasso DX90, so if you can, tell me what you think about it in a few months, cause I've heard that qualitywise, the Ibasso is better, but the X5 is way more stable softwarewise

Haha. It looks like a tiny little vinyl record player that only plays wee little 2" records or something. Maybe that's not a screen at the top. It's actually a little compartment that lifts and a tiny arm and needle comes out. The 2" records never caught on cuz they only play about 20s of audio on each side.

I guess my painkillers are working well today lol. :P 8)
