The Happy RANT THREAD!!!!!!!

Mon Jul 18, 2011 2:50 am

This thread is anything you find brilliant, satisfying, interesting, beautiful, funny... etc

No matter how trivial, include it.. remind people how small things make a big difference in everyday life

A thread as antimatter to the anger thread, because not all things are bad..

Some things which I think are brilliant

getting into an interesting/engrossing book
feeling really satisfied after a good meal
feeling free
the quietness of libraries
laughter
the feeling you get when you have an unbeatable hand in poker (see, it really can be trivial)
finding money
helping someone out
drinking really nice whisky
smoking a roll up cigarette (and the process of rolling)
rain when you're inside

You are correct, my friend. Without anger, there would be no happiness. You cannot have one without the other. So, I fully endorse this happy thread!

Music
Laughter
The outdoors
Learning
Family and friends
Good food
Balance
The night sky

And yes, my post in The Cosmos Thread spurred the thing! :D

I like this idea...

Driving country roads
Bacon
A good nights sleep
Love's Forever Changes
Good coffee
Monkeys
Comfy trainers
Warm, sunny weather
Big walks
Pretty girls in small summer dresses, sunglasses and sandals
Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine
Raspberries

having a good chat with your mates
swimming in the sea
discovering something special
cats
listening to classical music in the bath
animals
david attenborough
reading the observer on a sunday morning with a cup of coffee and some buttery toast
dressing smartly
waking up in the morning and not needing to jump out of bed
that calm darkish blue of dawn, which then changes to a light blue
parties
bonfires
exercise -> namely the rush of endorphins after a run which make you feel so fresh
camping
birdsong
christmas
sundays when you have nothing to do but enjoy yourself
drawing
beautiful ginger haired women
falling asleep in complete cool calm ambience
dark red and gold together
hot apple pie and ice cream (when it melts - just incredible)

Mon Jul 18, 2011 3:03 pm

beer and nachos

Discovering awesome things, namely music, that you've known about for a long time but never properly paid attention to. But when you finally do it blows you away.

This man knows what's up

All the above.

Plus, the satisfaction that only a man can feel, when he breaks wind and gets it to change note 3+ times.

Deep down, you know I'm right.

Mon Jul 18, 2011 4:34 pm

Slender necked women
Almond shaped eyes
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee
Smoking a joint after a long hiatus
Barbecues
Reading a letter from a dear friend

Mon Jul 18, 2011 4:41 pm

the sound of boiling water
thunderstorms (elaborations: the sound of our severe weather alert system going off, the heavenly yellow glow after one)
hiking alone on a misty psychedelic pine tree-filled trail in the mountains
having emotional/sentimental ties to music (twoism can understand this one)
my grandparents old house (elaborations: the little garden by the woods, the peeling sunflower-patterned wallpaper)
waking up to birdsongs
dreams (elaborations: EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM)
the feeling of creating music/art/poetry/other stuff
being alive

Sweet, I found one of mine as well. He was boxing on the deck of his ship in the middle of the Pacific.

If you think about how random and chaotic the universe is, you are pretty damn lucky to exist.

But then they arrive and I get over it.

People's reactions to the term 'intelligent folk music' are wonderful. they run the whole spectrum of emotion from amused to critical to out-and-out angry.
