Not that anybody cares, but when working on covering Melissa Juice, Sixtyniner, 84 Pontiac Dream, and Twoism... I have noticed some patters in the music. Each one has a similar pattern in the way the percussion is arranged, also, each song was recorded at around 90 bpm. I just thought it was interesting to start seeing these patterns that you wouldn't normally see unless you were measure by measure covering something.

Man oh man. I am having the hardest time matching these synths in melissa juice. The mixing work in here is superbly un-matchable.

The attack time on the main pad is troubling me. I like the calm feeling it gives the peace, but some of the short notes arnt coming threw that well. Was this your intention? (having said that I havent listened to the original recently so im perhaps not making a fair comparison)

Also perhaps the bell sound could use some attack on the pitch bend so that it hits at the right pitch before the wobble sends it off course.

Hope that doesnt sound negative, there just the first things that jumped out at me.
Other than that (for me) its a nice cover.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I may have put it up a tiny bit prematurely. I have a tendency to do that at times, lol. Then again, I am never really happy with anything I do. Maybe I'm just too hard on myself?

I think it's a slightly different tape delay/echo/reverb on the one track that's throwing it off a little bit.

I'll see if I can a little more time on it and spice it up a little. The one modeling synth I am using is very very touchy at times.

Im the exact same, I only have about 5 tunes out of hundreds that I would call "finished" because i'm never 100% satisfied with anything I make either.

Although, I have a lot of real equipment, I end up using Logic's synths most of the time. I have found that I can get way more sounds and tuning power out of them than I can with most of my real stuff.

The modeling synth in Logic in particular is astounding. I haven't met something that can match it yet as far as the most detailed and awesome tuning one could think of.

The signal flow is a bit overwhelming but when it's all said and done, it's great. You can specify what material your base sound originates from, a wide variety/combination of timbres right off the bat. Wether it be nylon, wood, glass, steel, or a mix of them and then it goes right into the object parameters which allow you to specify how the initial timbre is stimulated (blown, struck, plucked, bowed, muted, dampened, etc.) On top of that it gives you 3 separate points on a "string" that allows you to point to where it's being blow, struck, dampened, etc, in relation to the "body" and "pickups" of the "instrument." Then of course, it goes through your mod, and amplitude envelopes, as well as settings to determine the acoustics of the body of the instrument. It also features a delay mod sections in addition to 2 LFO's and a morph section which allows you to set multiple mod envelopes up and "morph" seamlessly between them.

I just find it simply amazing.

Great job on all the covers!!! So it seems like you guys use Logic more than Audacity (or anything else). Is it that much better or is just preference?

I liked the drum sequencing, but don't like the snare sound; like you said the tape delay etc etc could be muddying up the sound. The bell sound should be more crisp and bright too. But as always you did a real good job. It always takes guts to leave yourself open for criticism. They are minor quibbles, i really liked your work. So why do you use logic over the other software? Do you like logic over protools?

All I did was record the full song onto tape then record it back onto my pc as follows:

Hit rewind on the Reel-to-Reel
Push the tape into contact with the Play Head with my finger

Then I reversed the wav recording and pitchshifted it down by about 48 semitones.

Coool. So not everyone is using massive amounts of tape compression on software. Hey, I like that part so much. Can I do a quick little loop and add a few notes? a little collaboration so to speak.
