Spectrum cover

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYbirt1MAlo

One of my favorite pre-Twoism tracks and favorite BOC tracks in general. I've never seen any covers of it so I thought it would be fun to take a stab at it.

I did this a couple of months ago and wasn't happy with it until I did some last minute changes. I normally don't put such heavy compression on my tracks, but it seemed to fit.

Nice work.

But it seems that people really like the "Old Tunes" era a lot more than the stuff after Twoism. There are so many great tracks after that period to choose from to cover!!

I did this cover hardware only, and recorded it directly onto tape.

Davie Addison - Track 15 from A Few Old Tunes - A

I'm currently working on a A Few Old Tunes - A Cover album to get the creative juices flowing again.

Stay tuned!

:)

Thanks!

I think that post-Twoism tracks are just so fully realized that it seems kind of pointless to cover them unless you're going to take in a dramatically new direction.

I agree, there are a number of tracks pre-Twoism that hang with the best of the more later stuff. Some of them are even more haunting because of the lower quality (cassette tape) and the starkness of the production.

Search didn't bring up anything and 20 pages is a lot to search through so yeah. A minimalist Melissa Juice cover. Helps that it really is probably damn near my favorite song.

Some of these covers are absolutely amazing
"We're just a band. Not an IDM band, not an electronic band, and not a dance band."

"An imaginary road trip in a rusty pick-up heading west through the brain"

I was somewhat bored this afternoon, so I decided to try and do a cover of The Smallest Weird Number. I only spent about 25 minutes or so on it, so it's not too fancy. I kinda like it though. haha

for me listening to BoC covers is like listening to fakes, I always feel dirty afterwards.

Today I was playing around on my sampler/sequencer so I thought I'd try to cover Turquoise Hexagon Sun. I sequenced the beat, and then I switched to a single osc sine wave on my synth and hit record on the tape deck...

http://dono.freeshell.org/site/music/TurquoiseHexagonSun_live.mp3

I recorded this straight onto tape, no editing, 100% live so sorry if any levels are off. When I was recording it back off of tape onto my computer there was something on the tape at the end that was under it so I left that little bit on the end :-P

Tell me what you think! :-)

Heya everyone,

I've been working on a cover of "Slow This Bird Down" today,
just over 7 hours of work i think. Its mostly finished, but I think
i'll replace the ending with something more 'BOC'ish'.

I hope you enjoy it, let me know what you think.

Intrestingly enough, all of the sounds apart from the drums were
synthisised from sine waves or noise before being distorted (and
not additive synthisis btw, more like distortion synthisis).
If anyones interested I can post more details.
