for me, it's mostly amo bishop roden
not creepy, but i definitely get uncomfortable from it.
it's a great song.
it just.. i don't know. it makes me feel like my heart's being ripped out (in the emotional way)

oh, and corsair.
but, that's probably because i fell asleep while listening to my entire boc discography (at the time, only being TCHP, MHTRTC, and geogaddi) and woke up as corsair was fading in.

i had no idea where i was, and all i heard was corsair as i looked upon an overcast world

Amo Bishop Roden is one of the most beautiful thing I've heard in my entire life. I think of the billions of people throughout history before me who did not have the privilege to hear this...

It all depends on the setting, Sunshine Recorder and Beware the Friendly Stranger never scared me until I listened to them during a thunderstorm. You Could Feel the Sky weirded me out the first times I listened to it, but now it's more of a pleasant song unless it's raining, then it sets a good background.

08B and On a Rolling Sea both make me think of that sight you get when you're trying to keep your head above water or very grainy time lapse footage of seas or forests, but they've never scared me.

On the other hand, Triangles and Rhombuses, Olson and Dawn Chorus sort of haunt me, in the way that I feel like I've heard them before but I know I haven't, and when reversed they sound more familiar to me. It kinda weirds me out to listen to those, even though Dawn Chorus is probably my favorite song by them.

Color of the fire scared me until I saw the source clip. In fact, knowing that most of their samples came from Sesame Street bits that I grew up with, demystified a lot of tracks (i.e. Aquarius).

Any of the tracks about Branch Davidians scare me. Except for the Poppy Seed remix.
Btw I just picked up A Beautiful Place from a record store. I was already familiar with it, but it's so much nicer having BoC's physical CDs.

Also, I used to have a copy of TCH that wasn't in a jewel case it was the foldout kind. but I lent it to someone and never got it back. Is that printing rarer than the jewel cased one?

i'm not sure, but i, too, got the cardboard-like fold out kind.

i might be willing to trade somehow, if you ever get the jewel case one though!

Yeah I just saw the Jewel case version at Newbury Comics (a record store) and assumed that's how they print it now. I didn't buy it because a part of me still feels like I may someday get my copy back, but I probably won't. They had Geogaddi, TCH and ABPITC, so I went with the one I didn't own. I almost bought a Cocteau Twins CD too, now I wish I had.

Oh, also, every BoC release has had tracks that scare me. Except The Campfire Headphase! Not even a bit. Maybe it's the lack of backmasking.
Either way, I wonder if they've gotten past their "scary" phase. I hope not. I almost hope the new album makes me too afraid to listen to it. I actually like that feeling.

I didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if it's been mentioned or not, but You Could Feel The Sky reversed is pretty scary.

You could feel the sky is one of the hardlistenable BoC songs - at first i didn't like how it sounds but now i understand all beauty of this track :)

The devil is in the detail has Me distracted, not sure if it's annoyance or creepiness likely a bit of both.

Track 13 on the Random 35 tape to Me sounds sadly post apocalyptic, something about it that is massively depressing, not sure I like it at all actually.

Same here, I just can't describe how I feel when I listen to it, I don't know, completely wrecked but over it in the same time. This track is beyond words, really.

i agree. a lot of their tracks tend to be like that

you could feel the sky. on my first 100 listens. i just thought was plain stupid.. i could never quite get into that repetitive sound at the beginning of the song..

but now. after years of listening to BOC, it has to be hands down one of my favorite songs.

it has such a dark mysterious tribe sound to it. what an incredible song

The Devil in The Details made me feel so uncomfortable when I first heard it, it was actually pretty terrifying. It felt as if something was trying to "hack" into my brain and it was being rejected. After a while I thought it was quite relaxing :)
But I still think The Colour Of Fire is their most unsettling track.

An Eagle in Your Mind is very scary. It's also the kind of track that summarizes BoC for me. It has all of their key components.
