Some tracks deliberately finish earlier than you want them to, like actual cues in older soundtracks where they've been ripped out of much longer original masters that nobody ever gets to hear.

Yeah a bunch of people called that. Good job guys!

But yeah, awesome interview. It's especially interesting how he talks about their equipment. I love that bit about them spending a lot of time and traveling long distances just for one effect unit that contributed 1 second of audio to Cold Earth.

I wish the interviewer would've asked, "Are you planning on releasing the old, unreleased material in the future?"

Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

And this is a really excellent tidbit:

I definitely felt as though on prior releases many of these tracks would have gone another couple of minutes. Sort of a "failure to thrive" thing going on this record. The soundtrack explanation is very instructive as to their thinking.

To see them in written word after this long is almost like the missing piece of the puzzle for me. And now they have a beefed-up studio and are both in Scotland again. Now we can pore over TH for even more clues within clues. YEARS of fun.

(kinda hoping for another interview or two to fill out the picture a bit more..)

There's actually more use of subliminals on this record than on any previous album we've done, so we're interested to see what people will pick up on.

holy shit

time to listen to the album once again haha

Loved reading this!!! Great to hear some feedback directly from BoC :)
The preparation for a dive is always a tense time.

Caution here. They didn't say they are nihilists. They said they have become MORE nihilistic, there is I find a substantial difference.

Anyway, very interesting interview which confirmed what some people have been speculating.

Haha does this mean they come here and read our crazy theories? Anyway, really excited to read this.

This is setting such a grand stage for this album.. There is going to be a lot of speculation and dissection for years to come.

I absolutely <3 this quote:

In a way we're really celebrating an idea of collapse rather than resisting it. I

Sort of my personal outlook on life. I've always said Nero gets a bad rap. If your world is burning down, might as well spend the final moments immersed in music.

wow, they gave a lot more away about the album than i thought they would.

i've been thinking ever since i heard the album that it sounds like its in the wrong order, that maybe were supposed to choose our own play order, so it was interesting to read about the palindromic aspect they've put in to it.

Sandison: "There are quite a few influences on this record. Carpenter is kind of an easy reference point for most people though I'd say the main ones would be Fabio Frizzi, John Harrison and Mark Isham. We're very much into grim 70s and 80s movie soundtracks so there are maybe nods to composers such as Stefano Mainetti, Riz Ortolani, Paul Giovanni, Wendy Carlos, even Michael Nyman."

It's interesting that they reference Riz Ortolani -- I've always considered the soundtrack of Cannibal Holocaust very boc esque. In fact, one of my very first topics on this forum was about the link between BoC and Cannibal Holocaust.

I think Marcus's comment at the end is interesting.. I wonder how radically their perspective has changed from other releases. And I'm curious if psychedelics still play any part in their music/making of their music lol
