Those are the two songs that introduced me to those two bands too (I think so anyway, they're at least the first two that really, really blew my mind). I think I must've been about 14 or something; got there through Smashing Pumpkins, Final Fantasy VII, and a vague knowledge of a couple of dream-pop / shoegaze bands...
