For me, I think, Tycho doesn't come across as organic low fidelity inspired, but rather more electronic wall of sound inspired. I think he creates a robust sound that works in a totally different way. I get laid back vibes from Tycho not nostalgic feels. Just my two cents.

i think the notion of calling any of these artists "clones" is offensive. casino versus japan's go hawaii is nothing like music has the right to children, both masterpieces in my eyes.

Heavily BoC inspired if you ask me. I think it sounds great. A lot hype around this girl recently, from around my area too.

its completely blatant in tycho's music that he is heavily inspired by BOC. but i feel as though he takes his BOC inspiration, and then goes into a different tunnel of exploration with it. which to me, is fair game.

i think duran duran is as close to boc as you can get.
whats wild is they were copying boc before they even EXISTED. so sick....the reach of boc's influence is incredible.
mostly in their old stuff. their first tape "a bunch of vintage tracks" was where it was most apparent. but they try to keep a hint of it through all their tunes. they are huge fans of the boc.

I heard that if you play the cassette backwards you can hear a vocal sample of a woman (maybe a girlfriend at the time?) saying random numbers. Someone on the Duran Duran forum, pretty sure it was HuNgRy_WoLf_81 worked out that the numbers were Pythagorean triples.

it really amazes me the reach of influence BOC have.

The big hate guns usually come out for trying to pass your stuff off "as" BoC...

I don't think it would be bad, why not? I'd be interested to hear it, but make sure everybody knows this is you trying to sound exactly like them, not trying to reach own artistic heights by ripping somebody else off or something.

Don't know if it's been mentioned already, but these couple of Galerie Stratique tracks are some of the most BoCy stuff I've ever come across:

I can't stand the clones. Nothing comes close-- boC are a genre onto themselves. I'm not even trying to be negative here.

how can music continue to live and evolve without musicians influencing other musicians, friends?

on the off-chance, did anyone catch Tycho in Bristol last night? I thought he/they were amazing, though you'll all be furious to know he has some hexagons in his visuals. :)

Scott and Rory, if you or any of the other guys ever read this, I want you to know I love your work. BOC are one of the greatest bands to be influenced by! Rory, your drumming is the shit! Congrats on all your success, well deserved. I know Scott you have worked very hard to get where you are at! Playing at Terminal 5 must have been bad ass! Keep doing your thing!

I'm assuming one of you is a possible member here or know a member who will relay the message.
