PiotrG. wrote:Is that Gavin Harrison speaking before so called "thank you speech" ??? Nobody mentioned him. This guy looks exactly like him. Correct me if I'm wrong. This is of course English extraordinary drummer known for his work with Porcupine Tree and King Crimson.
nope!

yep!

Pretty cool. Could be something that didn't make the cut for TH. Definitely similar... rhythmically uniform arpeggio thing over a drone and minor, though this is dorian whereas TH was more natural minor. More reminiscent of old sci-fi than old public television music.

Also, it's a PALINDROME. Maybe it was an alternative for Collapse.

I do know the last image is from HAARP, an abandoned auroral research project in Alaska and the subject of a bunch of conspiracy theories. Kind of a tie in with the conspiracy sample from Split Your Infinities and the artwork of abandoned/unrecognizable military facilities

Like someone said, they were obliged to provide a thank you video, this was it and I think the reason for the livestream being blanked out was to save fans from spending days poring over it only to find there's no message or clue here at all.

This just makes me wonder how many other unused tracks from the TH sessions must be lying around awaiting release or (more likely) being locked in a heavily reinforced vault until the Sun dies.

Can't wait to see this in decent quality though... come on bocbocbocbocboc.

Or as I said, could it contain a message that they wanted those who attended the say awards to be able decifer first? Haha, hidden info on their first gig in a long time maybe :P Let the speculation begin!!

As said, I honestly see no reason for them to blank out the audio or footage on the net unless it was to give those at the say awards a head start on something :P
Yup they had to do a thank you, but blocking online viewers from hearing or seeing it only adds more fuel to their subliminal fire.

Seems more likely to me that the track may soon be seeing a release and that BOC/Warp wanted to minimise the chances of most people's first listen being in poor quality on YouTube.

It was probably just an exclusive video and piece of music to thank the nominators and nothing more. Without much communication or clarity they must worry about how people interpret everything they do

Its the same arp structure of Gemini, but simplified and slightly slowed. You'll hear the slight jump in both of them

I see their Twitter feed was linked to in the blacked out segment. Did they do that for every act, or just BoC? I didn't see the whole ceremony, just the bits relevant to BoC.

The thing is though, the nominators were us, the thousands of fans who went online and voted for them to be short listed. No way could all of us attend the event, so cutting us out of the live feed isn't much of a thank you.

I'm guessing maybe the images and possibly the music is not something they want to release to the masses yet. The visuals may be part of a live show so they don't want to spoil it for everyone. :) I hope that's why it was cut out.

EDIT: Also, it could have been a publicity stunt by warp? Maybe to create some kind of buzz among us. They must know how we speculate this stuff to death haha.

But Reach For The Dead premiered (to everyone not in Tokyo city centre on 23 May) in a poor quality YouTube clip.

For a while I thought they'd got a hexagon screen specifically for BoC, coincidentally seems to be just the same as their logo.
I'm still not sure if this was meant to be a slightly tongue in cheek thank you video, starting off so abrasive, ending with a simple "thank you", but I hope this is a teaser of both some new material and a new aesthetic style.
The voice throughout is nightmarish. Thanks so much for the link, thepastinsidepressant.

Fair point - could be that this is a little easier to manage on their part though seeing as it was shown to a limited audience in a small space rather than in public.

(Or maybe I'm clutching at straws.)
