Beck's new album Hyperspace comes out Nov 22, 2019. Getting some strong vaporwave vibes from these first 2 tracks. He said in an interview today that he was going for a "headphone listen" album. Yes!!

Beck's 80's David Bowie phase continues. Someone made an apt comparison on Rate Your Music that Beck was plateauing with commercial sounds much like DB was in the 80s and I see it continuing here.

Let's Dance = Morning Phase (Both were nominated for a Grammy.)

Tonight = Colors

Hyperspace= Never Let Me Down

I can't get used to Beck using autotune.
When I was a little kid my mother told me not to stare in the sun

Uneventful days.

Edit: Might be mishearing it.

What's weird is Beck is singing the way an autotuned singer would and I feel he is. He's just avoiding the Cher tone often associated with autotune.

With today's technology you can use autotune subtly. I remember listening to Taylor Swift circa Red at my job and you can hear her thin voice rise inorganically. And sure enough, when I looked it up, she does use autotune.

On an unrelated note, having heard Dark Places (another song from the album) Beck is using a lot of synth tones I would describe as BOC-esque. It's either he's paying homage to vaporware or paying tribute to the gents who were nice enough to remix him in 2005.

Truly and verily, the best thing about Hyperspace are these synth tones. And weirdly enough, they make me think he's predicting something.

This album is hitting me in all the right ways. Stratosphere and Star are killing me! What I'd give for Beck and BOC to collaborate on an album.

And as an added bonus, he's finally ditched Scientology, at least publicly.

Getting BMSR vibes from the intro of Everlasting Nothing

I also love hyper space , the alternative version of the melancholic hyperlife.

Maybe boc can remix a track off this album. A boy can dream
