It doesn’t negatively effect the music for me at all as he was the one who introduced me to them with Dayvan Cowboy. He literally looks identical to the person on the front of CH and also the person in the liner picture collage that has bushy dark hocky/70’s hair style! His name was David and my friends and I have this little gimmick where we say he “transcended” this world and entered into a permanent Boards of Canada headspace dimension and is forever contained in the Campfire Headpase haha Dayvan/David Cowboy! ;)
My two bands Soul Slip and Kevlar are my homage to him and his psychedelic frame of existence.
I also agree with you about the older T-shirts and wish we had a larger variety of official shirt designs.

That's amazing, man. I really love that album and I have no idea why so many fans hate on it, so to hear this story is really touching and awesome! It's really cool that your friend had such a connection to it. My friend always said the guy on the cover was Beck but that's such a cooler way to think about it in honor of your friend.

And yeah, the designs of the t-shirts are kind of plain. I do like the trees/house logo and the hexagon logo (reminds me of Northface actually) but I cannot say that they're the most imaginative coolest things ever. I hope that Beautiful Place and Geogaddi themed merch might be a lot cooler when the time comes.

Mike and Marcus aren't reading the forum. At all.
People's writing has really changed since they were under the impression after the Societas X tape that they are reading the posts here on Twoism. The like spree was likely a Warp employee or MDG, and MDG rarely if ever reads the forums.

Really? As far as I can tell there are a handfull of regular users and they all seem fairly young and new to BoC so they are excited to dig around. All the old guard are jaded and quiet on the BoC front. But this is only from my perspective and I don't come on here much at all either.
It's cool to have new blood keep this place going and shows that BoC can appeal to new audiences and not just tubby bearded geeks.

I am half joking by the way, no one needs to take any offence.

It is maybe just me. You see it a lot elsewhere, though. People's conversations being held publicly and online so therefore they always present a facade. I see a lot less of that here which is nice.

Can anyone tell that I am sleep deprived today? I don't know why I am being so negative.

I think you're just picking up on the eagerness from new users and assuming they are older like the rest of us. There is a difference to this place right now because of it. Not a bad thing. This place will fill back up when and if we ever get anything from BoC.

@Valotonin, MDG confirmed himself to me that he doesn't have time to go on here much. Even though Mexicola told me that he recently contacted him about bootlegged merchandise, so MDG is still doing his thing, just more in the shadows. I personally think he got sick of reassuring angry people that there is something new on the way. Was a thankless task really because BOC do take their sweet time with everything. After all, telling people in 2009 that a new album on the way is kind of useless because of all the years it took afterward. I guess even if he told us now about something it would be the same issue.

@Geogandi, Yeah, I'm happy to help generate more conversation the best I can as I am relatively new to the fandom. I'm honestly still hyped since Societas but it becomes clearer and clearer that XYZ was the height of what we're going to get for a while. Big shame because if I was them, I would have capitalized on the hype generated by Societas

I just love this thread. The ups and downs in these pages over the years are amazing.

I really do hope something happens soon, though. I'm a masochist enough that every time I see the notification of a new post, I still get excited *just in case* some new development gets mentioned.
There are a lot of different 'me's, you know. There's the mad me, when I get angry.

Curtis Roads spends literal decades working on songs, and then releases them about a decade after they’re done, so if you’re ever frustrated about BoC taking too long, just remember that.

I was just thinking about how The Wrens have been working on a new record for 16 years so honestly yeah it could always be worse lol

I top that with Peter Gabriel. I/O was promised to come out 18 months after Up's release in 2002 but it still hasn't come out in what's going to be 18 years.

Let’s not forget The Avalanches. Took 16 years to get a follow-up to Since I Left You, and it’s only their second.

Yeah, it could be worse. Still, I’m thankful for groups like Thee Oh Sees that release bomb records every year and just keep getting better.

Come on, guys. There is still time to go for a Christmas number one with a remix of Soylent Night if you get a bit of a move on.

This just seems right.

It is mindbowling to think, that the album is probably ready. And already in WARP hands. They just planning now how to spin it to the public.
