^ Thank you, I truly appreciate it. I was aware that having a length that was a particular fraction of the wavelength one is trying to pick up greatly increased the ability to pick up said signals. I think the fraction to strength of signal is actually the same formula used for what harmonics ring on what fraction of a stringed instrument and to what extent when you pluck it. I might be wrong, though.

I wasn't aware of what that receiver was for and why it had various lengths of antenna wire, though. That is really fascinating so thank you again for the detailed response.

That fretless bass track reminds me so much of something from this Canterbury scene album (Before A Word Is Said) put together in the early 80s. Just the same kind of melancholy and especially that fretless bass sound. It's not. I would know otherwise having listened to a crap ton of Canterbury scene music when I was younger.

Ever since the boc mix introduced me to christian chevallier i've been trying to locate a lot of his music. This album arrived the other day. These tracks are all covers, but unique in his beautiful style.

What a wonderful track! The similarities in the bass tone as you mentioned is near enough identical.

Thanks! I'm glad someone enjoyed it :D It was the first thing I thought of when I heard that fretless bass track. It's that same kind of melancholy prog jazz rock that they mined a lot of their instrumental music from on Societas.

Makes me wonder if we're getting some melancholy jazz rock ourselves in the near future.

Is it weird that I already feel incredibly nostalgic about the time Societas happened? It happened at a pretty important time for me, I graduated from the school I've been attending for the last 5+ years, saying farewells here and there. Societas was my soundtrack to the last few days there. I remember being so eager to tell my former music teacher about it the day after it broadcasted, since he knew how much of a BoC fanatic I am.

My listening experience can be summarized with me, sitting in the dark at around midnight when it began broadcasting and listening to the music while simultaneously browsing Twoism. It was so incredible to see everyone's reactions coming in at such a fast pace. I won't forget the collective freakout everyone experienced at the Aquarius samples.

My personal highlight of the tape was the Dreamers Cloth track. I remember nearly tearing up when it started to get to me. It was this feeling of being overwhelmed with so much optimism that it may in fact be something old BoC (which turned out not to be the case) and it being one of the warmest, most accepting tracks I've heard.

The Bruce Haack track at the end gets me really emotional on subsequent listens as well. All is love, love is all.

Societas X has really been growing on me recently and I've been more accepting of it. In a weird way, I'm kind of glad that it wasn't a new album or something along the lines. We've been exposed to so much music we didn't even know existed and we have the brothers to thank for that. It was a magical adventure to experience with you all.

I've actually been thinking about making a .cue sheet and splitting all the tracks, but I've been pretty busy recently. On a side-note, what is the highest quality file available of the mix? Is it the archive.org (https://archive.org/details/WXAXRXP-NTS1) upload?

Welp, I ended up splitting the tracks, tagging them and uploading the whole thing on a MEGA folder. Didn't make .cue sheets, unfortunately, though I'm sure this is good enough. Enjoy!

I think my favourite part is still their Little Star interlude, it reminds me of that Warp10 track with the reversed sample. It's sort of simplistic in concept but it's so ethereal and distinctively BOC.

Also I've tried to reach out to a library music community to see if anyone there recognises the missing tracks https://librarymusicthemes.net/index.php?topic=4054.0

Thank you for your effort, I don't think anyone thought about doing that :D
Here's hoping that we'll at least get the fretless bass track...

First one here to find the origin/source of that short MBV-type instrumental interlude gets a Campfire Headphase vinyl for free from me. Seriously. PM me with details if you do, but post it here as well.

What you call Track #1 in your post to librarymusicthemes just seems way too cool to just be library music. I always visualize a 1980's Carpenter-type movie soundtrack when I hear it.

Tried to register on that forum some time ago but never recieved confirmation of some kind. Glad someone else did it.

Maybe we could at least get all the best suggestions in one place what could these be, sources etc.

Track 1: someone made a comment it's a computer game music. I like this theory. Something from first half of 90s.
Track 2: tape noise is obvious on this one, that could be the source. Are there music libraries that were cassette exclusives? VHS? Really hard to pinpoint time of this one.
Track 3: Bit reminiscent of Tangerine Dream, Berlin sound, maybe even US synth/new age pioneers who made lots of cassette only releases.
Track 4: I think there is also a mellotron somewhere in there. Someone kicks a turntable two times throughout the track  Could be a porn soundtrack, no idea.
Track 5: Also a cassette
Track 6: for some reason I think this one is a bit more modern than the other ones

Ones missing are MBV-like interlude which sounds like it is played backwards. Also dissonant noises one which plays after 35000 ft. Pretty sure background noise on that one is a radio or satellite signal transmitting an image or something, used in weather systems.

^ Thank you for compiling and clarifying, Moz

I did reverse the MBV-type interlude just to check, but knew from the outset that it was reverse reverb (yes, they are using reverse reverb which is MBV's signature) so the way it appears on the Societas tape is the intended way. Sorry for just focusing on that one in particular as of late in terms of finding sources, it really actually might be Kevin Shields, though; in which case, he has given one of his outtakes or a specially made recording to BoC which is huge as far as I am concerned. BoC don't strike me as the type to include an obvious direct copy of MBV in a compilation like that, and regardless, whoever did it would have had to have been better at Kevin Shields-ing than Kevin Shields.

I didn't think to include them because I didn't consider them to be library music.
