...so I made an album of Boards of Canada covers :mrgreen: I've been having fun and frustration in equal measure learning video software to create teaser trailers like this one:

Thanks for watching and I hope you'll check out "Slow This Bird Down: A Lullaby Mixtape" when it drops on May 7. Cheers!

The second teaser trailer was a real pain in the backside to create, mostly due to lack of familiarity with the video software. But I'm proud that all the footage is mine. One regret that developed after publishing: is this supposed to look like it's sourced from 8mm or VHS? Make up your mind!

Hope you enjoy and will check out the release of my new album of Boards of Canada covers, "Slow This Bird Down: A Lullaby Mixtape", legally tenable to release on May 7 :lol:

Cheers!

Great stuff Eric_schafer.
What editing software did you use to bring this to life?

Thanks for the kind words, folks!

Knifeyspooney, I'm learning a program called HitFilm Express. I've used non-linear editors like Adobe Premiere and iMovie (shudder*) before, but this is sort of its own animal. Amazing that they offer it for free, but I elected to pay for one of the upgrades because I knew I would be clumsily animating some things.

* (I'm shuddering because I edited my video (!!! NSFW !!!)

with iMovie. Still having flashbacks about how un-fun that was.)

The third teaser trailer went from inspiration to completion with the least amount of frustration. It kind of reminds me of those old sci-fi movies where the "planet" being orbited is really just a close-up of some interesting textured object.

The code that was hidden in the other two videos was made explicit at the end of this one. I didn't bother subjecting Twoism.org to looking for it, since you all are so keen at uncovering things that you'd be able to hear a dog bark on the moon :lol:

I hope you'll give a listen to "Slow This Bird Down: A Lullaby Mixtape" when it's released on May 7. Thanks for watching!

I would say the footage looks more like 8mm than VHS. You should get yourself a nice DV camera and do it on the real stuff, would be cool!

Bungler666, no doubt. I'm still getting the hang of this stuff. I frequently see what I want in my mind's eye and then settle for what my meager understanding of the program will let me accomplish. But more practice means I learn more and get better every time. Thanks for watching my videos!
