PLEASE HEAR ME OUT!!! This has been on my mind for half a decade now. I have evidence to at least prove that a specific rip of AFOT and OTV2 were not sourced from audio cassette but actually from VHS tape(s).
I discovered this years ago when I did audio spectral analysis of all the rips that exist of AFOT and OTV2.
Essentially the noise patterns in this rip correspond to the same specrtral artifacts seen in audio from a VHS tape that was recorded in LP or SP mode on a VCR without Hi-Fi functionality.
At the top I have Zander Two from OTV2 and on the bottom I have my own VHS rip. Notice the 15khz tone present in any recordings made near electron tubes from CRTs. As well as the nature of the noise pattern (specifically in quite parts of ZT.) Notice how there is an amplification of noise during quite parts UP TO 10khz in which case the noise and audio both cut off at. The very nature of the limited fidelity mixed in with the 15khz tone to me indicates that this was likely VHS sourced and not audio cassette.
The only arguments I can think of against this theory is that if the tape was recorded in LP why is the audio stereo? My only come backs are is that either this could have been recorded on a VCR at SP speed with stereo support but no Hi-Fi support. Or that this rip is from a multi generation copy of the original VHS tape which would have been in Hi-Fi stereo. (I don't recall knowing if LP or EP support stereo audio).
Imagine the implications. That anyone at the time who was lucky enough to be part of Hexagon Sun not only getting early BoC but early BoC music videos on VHS for their own enjoyment.
Could it mean that BoC have visuals for their entire catalog!?
PLEASE HEAR ME OUT THIS HAS GOTTA MAKE SENSE TO SOMEONEEEEEE!!! DXXXXXXXXX
