The gatefold LP images theory is compelling, but I'm leaning towards the posters being imagery from an upcoming music video directed by Neil Krug rather than images from the album artwork, considering BOC seem to like to have more creative control over the actual packaging. It seems to me like that would tie in with the current promotional cycle as well. I'm hoping that the album has a dirty lo-fi Filmmaker-esque aesthetic that's more in line with the VHS tape, but I'm ready to be surprised.

I also can't imagine them doing another highly involved ARG after the convluted cycle for Tomorrow's Harvest. I'm guessing like a few others that this will be a shorter rollout with a big announcement coming some time towards the end of the week to squash the speculation. I've seen a few people commenting that it's unlikely that there will be anything coming out on RSD because it's a much more controlled operation, meaning a leak would have happened already - but I'm still holding out the vague hoping that we'll get a flexi hegaon disc somewhere!

Are you talking about the grinning dingus in the red shirt? I think sadly (for them), their eyes are the right way around!

Yeah I reckon the album announcement will follow soon - Warp need those preorders in ASAP!

The recent leak of HQ remasters is also making me think that there could be some kind of BOCset tie-in, though a part of me doesn't think that we'll be getting the early apocryphal releases, but just an official version of the Old Tunes in high quality, with maybe some other new unreleased tracks thrown in. I kind of hope that the first few mythical stay legends for the sake of the mystery and don't see the light of day so that there can stay something to speculate. After all, what would BOC's fans do without a lingering conspiracy to obsess over?

Bleep's site is listing Lone's album as "record of the month." The month of May it is.

I just remember Marcus talking about the task of archiving and mastering their entire body of work and it sounded like it was quite an undertaking. While I wouldn't turn my nose up at a remastered AFOT I have a feeling we're in for something a bit more special.

I really don't think we'll be getting a boc set. That comes after. LP5 could well be the final record. Its a 50/50. But the boc set definately won't come out while albums are still being released. If the boc set does come out, then I guess tomorrows harvest really was the last we are getting in terms of an album. But again, I really think its LP5 just due to all the new lore/info they've dropped. Its something new, not something old.

Yeah I think it's LP5. The poster visuals don't match with anything they've previously done. I think it's a horror filled Filmmaker esque album. I think it's possible it's not "Boards of Canada" though as the name hasn't been referenced anywhere. Might be the first Hell Interface LP?

LP5 for sure but I wouldn't be surprised to see a little more activity to follow....maybe some old stuff being formally released, maybe an EP, or maybe a new remix or two.

Yeah I agree, I have been thinking this too recently as I was reading some of the more recent interviews. Warp currently has had a trend of releasing new albums along with new unreleased albums/material so hopefully that will also be the case here. I am really hoping for a BoC-directed or produced film(s) with accompanying soundtrack. The posters look very cinematic beyond what they normally do. They might be promoting an album but it feels more than that or different. I would love to see a BoC movie in theaters whether a widespread release or limited theater run…. although I know that’s probably farfetched a bit..

I doubt that it's going to come out under the name Hell Interface just because that would cost Warp quite a bit in marketing money, but I would love something with a similar ethos, and think that's what they're leading to with the mysterious Hell Interface-related activity from the last year. I also have a feeling that the Societas X Tape was more than just a one-off mix, but may have contained some hints about the tone or content of LP5. The fact that the VHS contained one of the songs used in it and was a "tape" strengthens my feeling that there is going to be some kind of continuity between the two. I am really hoping that we get a BoC release that doesn't have an extremely polished, elaborate high-production value like TH did, but catches people off guard with something that is more raw, off-the-cuff, obscure and gritty - kind of like the NTS mix. The less ARG-like rollout is confirming this suspicious too.

You lot are mental!

It’s a new album, tune your radios to the usual channels. Zane Lowe will have the exclusive no doubt.

We have been told we are getting a BOCset by MDG, but I agree LP5 will come first.

It was the mouth really, that's upside down I think.

I like "grinning dingus" though :D

No sooner posted that than my brain pinged off "turn that smile upside down" wasn't that a thing? On a adult swim bumper and some people thought that was a nod as well.

It's definitely LP5. The end of Tomorrow's Harvest really had a "we've got more to come" vibe to it. To quote Boards of Canada's most famous lyrics: "It's not over yet. The song... is not over yet."

Just saw on reddit, somebody has already apparently nicked the posters in Hollywood. Which one of you cheeky fuckers was that? Lmfao

Yeah, I think Lowe will play a part in debuting something as well. He has a pretty good track record of being the DJ acts go to. Him or Mary Anne Hobbs... I mean the guys have a 6 Music debut written all over them too...

I also predict that some window in an abandoned/rented building in some urban area will all of a sudden have some projections playing in it... What will it be playing? Good question.

Also, a weird thing I noticed. Pitchfork, while going downhill for a good decade, hasn't said a single thing about the rollout. It's interesting to me that they haven't had a single story about it. Conspiracy types would say that it's because they will play a roll... I think it's probably not that, but their silence has been surprising.

Anyway, stoked to follow along with you lot on here. :)
