Lol I know right? Their whole ethos is literally based around sitting round a campfire tripping balls with your mates.

Jeez people.. my post meant to be on the Most controversial BoC opinions topic (it has long since been moved there by an administrator). Glad to serve as an antagonist for the group cohesion thingy you've got going on here.
For the record: I bought the red vinyl one the second I got the pre-release message and over the past 20 years BoC has been a special love of mine. And yes, personally I crave for more love and optimism in this world. I realise my controversial message for the controversial opinion topic came out of fear and hence did not align with my ideals of love and connection. I am most thankful for this insight you helped me with.

We get that you want some optimism, we all could use that these days. It was jut the way you were stating how you felt was like saying: anything they make that doesn’t fit what I like means they permanently suck now. It was an odd take based on objectively limited information you have. Instead of just accepting that BoC have moved to a new musical era that is undeniably different from before but that doesn’t mean they have peaked or are stagnant. Clearly many feel the opposite and so it was just an odd blanket assertion it seemed. No ill will from my part. I am just very passionate as well and love this new direction they are going. They seem less formulaic these days and more thematic and cinematic, which to me is them showing love for music in ways we haven’t seen yet but still undeniably them. That teaser song gives me chills with how serious it sounds…. finally they are delivering the album I have been waiting for for a decade or two. TH to me was not a decline, but a new peak on another mountain on the horizon of their landscape. The other bits are what got me the most in what you said. It was like their entire existence and ethos seemingly is triggering for you or something, or you reject what they actually are… that they like reclusiveness, and sticking to themselves etc… Most wouldn’t be here if they catered to modern society the way you said they should. It felt like you were bashing everything about them. I mean come on man, re-read what you said from an outside perspective.

Wait "In times of crisis, art has a duty to deconstruct and make people think about their condition"?

lol oops guess I'm falling down on my "duty" as an artist.

No seriously eff the entire mindset that produces a thought like "Art has a duty to deconstruct". No, art has no such duty. Art is an immutable emergence of the human spirit, its only duty is existing. If you want to hold up a mirror to society with your art - great! Awesome. Important stuff. If you don't? No foul whatsoever. Art's value is intrinsic and it's beautiful *because* we are moved to make it, its value isn't scored based on how uncomfortable it makes the comfortable. Reducing it to that really grinds my gears.

I’m checking out the Cannibal Holocaust soundtrack by Riz Ortolani because of the clear association with the font used for Inferno - the main theme deviates hilariously from the cover art.

Number of hexagons in the new BoC logo: 7
Number of letters in Inferno: 7

I feel dumb that I didn't notice that! Nice!

So now we have:

- 7 hexagons
- 7th major release (arguably, if we count High Scores and Twosim)
- 7 deadly sins
- 7 letters in the title

I also just thought of these:

- 7 continents - Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Australia
- 7 oceans - Arctic, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, North Pacific, South Pacific, Indian, Southern
- 7 colours! [ROYGBIV] :D

The number 7 is very prominent with this release. I also see a 666 reference. The total duration of Inferno is 69:51. In esoteric symbolism, the 9 can be turned upside down into a 6. Turn the 9 and add 5+1 = 666. It could be a nod to time itself:

6(0) seconds in a minute
6(0) minutes in an hour
24 hours (2+4 = 6) in a day

It took 13 years for a new release. The new album has 18 tracks. In the Book of Revelation, chapter 13, verse 18 it says:

“This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.”

Other notable details (some already mentioned) include: The 7 hexagons. The 7 letters in the album title. The continuous mix is 7(0) minutes. The duration of the album teaser video is 43 seconds. 4+3 = 7. The amount of days between the release of Tape 05 and the new album is 43 days.

The number 7 remains one of the most powerful sacred numbers across traditions:

- 7 days of creation (Genesis)
- 7 heavens (Islam, Judaism, Hinduism)
- 7 continents
- 7 seas
- 7 metals of antiquity
- 7 chakras
- 7 classical planets
- 7 colors of the rainbow
- 7 music notes A to G

In addition to my previous post, here are some more observations:

- Tape 05 came out on April 16th. (1+6 = 7)
- The duration of Tape 05 is 3:22 (3 + 2 + 2 or 3+22 = 7), 322 also feels like a nodd to Skull and Bones.
- Listening parties are happening in 7 different cities.
- Tickets are live May 1st, 2026. (5 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 0 + 6 = 16 = 7)

Putting it all together, we now have the following refferences to the number 7:

- 7 hexagons
- 7 letters in the Album title
- 7(0) minutes continuous mix
- 0:43 album teaser video (4+3 = 7)
- Tape 05 released on April 16th (1+6 = 7)
- 43 days between the relase of Tape 05 and the album release
- Tape 05 duration 3:22 (sums to 7)
- 7 cities for the listening party
- Tickets for listening party are live May 1st 2026. (sums to 7)

At a certain point, it's no longer coincidence but a pattern. The number 7 is all over this album rollout. Probably more to come..

There is a nice symmetry related to:

Thursday 16 April - Tape 05 video released
Wednesday 22 April - Inferno announcement
Tuesday 28 April - Inferno streams announcement
Monday 4 May - ?
Sunday 10 May - ?
Saturday 16 May - ?
Friday 22 May - Inferno streams in 7 cities

These dates are 7 dates separated by 6 days which numerically mirrors the new logo. I have my hopes up for 4/5, 10/5 and 16/5 for more stuff, maybe a track or two?

Man, I got the email about the early access and I saw "LIVE" with a list of cities and my heart stopped, I was sure for a minute there it was an announcement about live shows :( I signed up for the New York one for the heck of it, even though it's kind of far and there's a good chance I won't make it.

I like this theory! Don’t forget the “retail partner listening sessions” on the Thursday the 28th of May which also falls into the 6 day pattern but adds an 8th date to the list.
