Jesus Christ that was awesome! Absolutely mammoth sounding! Fresh, yet classic. Everything I could have wanted yet nothing I expected. Party on, y'all!

Well then.... wasn't that something!?

Initial thoughts - first off; visually/sonically/aesthetically... here is a band who know EXACTLY what they're doing. It all just works - the turquoise & orange, the hexagons, the imagery - it's all "yep, this is us! Here we are!"

Introit - Is there an artist who is better at the "little intro tune to an album"? They've nailed it every time. Lovely little wobbly synths; "we're so back".

Prophecy.. - Heavy, heavy vibes. Vocals reminicscent of Geogaddi at times in that there's something sinister at play. Very heavy on the religious imagery. Like the spooky little melody that comes in c.3:47; one of those "I've heard this before..." moments. Lots of nods to their previous work while still being distinctive. The return of guitars (that are clearly guitars) c. 0:57 is interesting - out goes the hazy summery TCH guitar sound and in comes a post-punk almost goth-y tone. I like it.

Two back to back listens. A few more tears. Now I'm going to try and be good and put it back in the box until the end of the month for the full glorious reveal.
Oh, no! Not the bees! Not the bees! Aaaaahhhhh! Oh, they're in my eyes! My eyes! Aaaahhhhh! Aaaaagghhh!

Absolutely loved it, they can't miss. It's going to sound even better in the context of the album. Bring on Inferno!

Not gonna lie I was on the verge of tearing up. Legitimately SICK. They're cooking. The vocoded speech hit and I ascended.

Enjoyed that a lot. Need some more listens to really wrap my head around it. Loved the guitars and the maximalism of the drums, lots of lovely little rhythmical beat flutters in-between as well.

A total counterpoint to the warm, fuzzy, ethereally triumphant vibes of Tape 05. Makes me wonder if that's even on the album.

Edit: Oh and those kind of music box tones near the end - what a melody. Goes completely in a direction you're not expecting. I love their stuff most when it's unpredictable like that.

WOW. I know their music sounds good on anything, but MAN did that ever sound fantastic in the car!

It's dark in tone like I expected, and yet I'm totally taken aback by the guitar, the punchy percussion, the middle-eastern tone at the beginning, and the overall huge variety of sounds.

Did anyone else notice how the song throws a different surprise/shift at you every 40 seconds or so?? I did not expect a single one of the sonic shifts that happened, even the ambient outtro was something I didn't expect on my first listen.

It's like they're trying to keep the listener on their toes.... and that worked with resounding success!

Great day to be alive, lads. :D

I really like it - I can see why it's a small bit divisive but if you're into BOC's insane production skill and musicality as opposed to simply the genres they work in then it's just as good as anything they've ever done. Really groovy too - reminded me of Skytree, actually!

Right?? The vocoded speech saying stuff that sounds like a megalomaniac cult leader giving a sermon, which hits at the same time as that amazing, searing synth line.

HUGE, HUGE TUNE.

Goosebumps. Not going to lie. Shitty youtube compression notwithsatnding, it sounded bloody epic throught the stereo. Processed vocals. Main guitar pattern giving Robin Guthrie vibes. Drums like ten ton anchors hitting the sea bed. The Children's Geo-Campfire-Harvest darkwave mash-up. Third listen already. jesus christ, this bodes well.
