They've mentioned having "several albums ready" and they always have a specific theme for them. I think this was just their "Hell Interface" album which probably was a long time coming.

I've said that they probably wanted to comment on the current state of the world and that old concept happened to fit that too. "Okay world's going to shit, let's put out that HI album now"

I'm sure they still have several other concepts in the pipeline that they want to actualize. There's no way this was conceptually their "farewell album".

More hexi-flexidiscs plz. Vol 1-3? Maybe in 2039.

The "To your brother" loop, from a nostalgic McDonalds training video in conjunction with this being a Music70 release only kind of leads me to believe a couple of things:

1. The notion that they were under a 5 LP contract from Warp and that they fulfilled it for this one is true.

2. It is possible too that they were waiting to do the BOCSet until they got out of their contract. If the flexidisc confirms they've been released, they KNOW the BOCset will make them bank, so they'll do it now under Music70 and will barely have to do a thing to promote it. Money for them, their kids are nearing college age so money for them too. Win, win, win, sorry Warp, go do your weird marketing things with somebody else.

3. They hate each other. It just sounds spiteful to me. Okay, okay, I'm being glib here but all of this and no interviews? Something IS NOT RIGHT between them rn for Godtheultimateresonance knows why.

We should stick this post somewhere. I'm all in on this.

I'm not sure why we're postulating on the brothers' relationships, I saw this in another recent post from another poster in the Inferno thread too, specifically disputing the implications of the writing credits. Why do we care or have to assume something is going on? It's very uninteresting, and has nothing to do with the music, which is the point of all of it imo.

Obviously it would affect the music if there was something going on but it's beyond anything we could do about so I agree. People are way too obsessed with this band and I'm sure it makes them uncomfortable. They'd prefer if we just looked at the music whenever it dropped and left it at that

A musical act we have to be a duo for their whole careers (well other than one or two songs with Christ. IIRC), likely being not much of a duo for this album is just interesting to me, sorry! for what it might mean for any possible future releases, and the recording process for this one. Doesn't mean I want there to be any lurid/outlandish speculation as to the reasons why, or obviously any intrusion in their private lives.

Amen.

Also to shinealight - Nothing about the credits seems to suggest or confirm it wasn't a work between the duo. IIRC they have mentioned that they delegate mixing and writing between each other often. I guess this is a speculation thread tho

Kindly agree with all this: not our business, and I think folks are getting a bit carried away with interpreting what the credits would/could/should mean

Man, it seems like yesterday we were all grouchy because of how long we'd been waiting for a new album. Lots of low effort posts, general malaise, low morale, etc. And now here we are in the Inferno era and visiting twoism is like drinking from a firehose. It's awesome, but it's a lot to process. This is not a complaint at all, it's just whoa!

While waiting for Inferno I regularly checked on mdg's profile to see if he had been active recently and I just noticed he visited the forum on last Thursday, for the first time in 2 years. I thought he was over with the forum seeing he hadn't been active since 2024 and had even changed his picture to the internet is evil gif. Glad to see he's still around!

Kudos to all those who unironically kept the last smoulders of hope in the previous thread against sound reason and an enchroaching wave of manic-depressing, increasingly vitriolic and even resentful sentiment (which was my impression anyway from the times I checked on this site from 2024 onwards), for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory.

Anyone eager for another lap?

They do have one more album left on their contract with Warp though, something to consider.

I thought the contract was for 5 LPs. Is it 6?

All I've seen around is that they have fullfilled their contractual obligations to Warp now.
I don't think this is the last thing we will see of Boards of Canada though, I feel like there is more to come, just not with Warp.
